I always try to buy our DS games in the US whenever I am there (about 1/2 price compared to UK) and although the box is a different size, there are no compatability issues.

HOWEVER, I am nervous about buying Wii games abroad. Certainly as the US TV system is different, I am told that Wii games bought in the US would not work on a UK Wii. Like in the UK, European TV systems are also PAL but I don't believe it is the same PAL as the UK. (I don't believe that UK TVs do not work in Europe). Does anyone know if buying Wii games in Europe may result in any compatability issues on a UK Wii?
  • I ordered a Wii game online from Virgin megastores on 21st August. By October it had not arrived so I emailed & cancelled the order. No acknowledgement, no contact. Game arrived last week. Don't know yet if they have charged my credit card. Be prepared for a long wait if the item is not in stock & don't expect any cutomer service whatsoever in the event of a query.

Mark- I can confirm that UK TVs do not work in Europe, we just moved to Italy to find that the system is not recognized and we had to buy new ones.!! On the DS side , no problems at all between UK and Europe, no experience with US sorry:o

  • Our UK TV works in France.

I'm not sure what you are asking here, but European games..France, Germany etc work in the UK. We have bought several PS2 games in France & they are fine..It's just the writing on the box. I'll check with my son when he comes in from school if there are any other differences but I'm sure some-one more knowledgable will be able to tell you before that.

I have no personal experience of using european wii games (as yet;) ) but believe they too are the same.

Ha ha...I've got orders in all over the place, ebuyer, sendit, empire stores etc. If they all turn up I'll be quids in.;)

I know they won't though. the only one I'm half hopeful of is the one I ordered from Tesco's. If pushed I'll consider amazon.de, but I'm not really bothered, I'll wait until after Christmas...getting the console was the main thing.:T

It went for £64 in the end £29 more than RRP.

Silly prices for games & consoles that have been out a year.

Most TVs sold in the UK in the 10 years are multistandard and should work in any European PAL country.
Anyway, the Wii does not produce a conventional TV Signal.

You use Composite connectors (three plugs, one video, two for audio) or you can buy a Wii SCART connector as an extra.

I bought a Wii Scart connector earlier today.
