You need to divorce Brexit from your political views. Ranting just switches people off.

The rules were no different when Labour were in government.
If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.

'The collapse of the EU' is just one of 6 scenarios on how geopolitical changes are likely to influence German security policy.
    Good try, Jock.
For a moment there, you almost convinced me the EU is about to collapse. :rotfl:
:rotfl: Indeed. Paranoia or fear, mayonnaise? Or just not pro-EU enough for you maybe? :D
It looks like you (deliberately?) paid no attention to "Note: this is research, not a prediction." The report makes very interesting reading but nowhere did the poster suggest that a collapse was likely, much less imminent.

FWIW although I'm far from a regular poster I do visit very regularly and I have noted the tendency of some remainers to do all they can in order to achieve an objective of silencing some leavers. Are you falling into that camp? IIRC Jock was quite a prolific poster albeit of a decidedly pro-leave persuasion; I do not see that in the poster you so describe so must we surmise that either you are attempting to silence this poster or that you are afraid of them.
Whichever, I note that you do not exhibit the same tendencies towards the remain faction of obvious reincarnations of wotsthat, rugged etc. etc. What a surprise.

Cogito, the EU sent an itemised bill with no numbers in May.

No, they didn't. They produced a position paper ( which you yourself have posted more than once) setting out a list of items where they thought that the UK had liabilities. An itemised bill requires numbers attaching to it and they didn't do that. To say that they did is ridiculous.

An interesting article here on research by the German army, reported by the very pro-EU Politico which is so beloved by some remainers here it would seem.

You've reported about a report in Politico who are reporting about a report in a German newspaper in which they report they've seen a report from the German military that says bad things might happen in a worse case scenario.

It's interesting only for fans of Chinese Whispers.

The Conservatives and pushing this policy go very carefully together.

I supported the Conservatives in coalition, and even went as far as voting for a Conservative candidate in 2015 (which I have never denied and also will likely never do again).

Potentially true, however I didn't vote for Labour either.

I support the party that took the lowest earners out of income tax completely whilst giving important NI contributions at a lower level. That is the same party who want to ring fence 1p of income tax for the NHS as it should be recognised as an important organisation. I've also stated that I would support a partial means testing of the state pension to reduce overall government spending. I will be worse off as a result of holding that view.

I do genuinely care for the less well off and strong public services. My view is that we can't support the above without the trading relationships (circa 80% of our exports) that the EU gives us as those deals won't be easy to replicate on their own.

Anyway, back to the original point I was making; there is increased competition for insolvent (but likely viable) companies at the moment. I'm unsure of who is buying these (however I know there is some interest from overseas), how long the interest will continue and how much is likely to be offshored (as is the plan for some), but it'll be interesting to see what figures the government put on what in the near future when statistics are released.

I'd be interested to know where you get the information that 80% of UK exports go to the EU?

According to Full Fact it's just over half that figure.
About 43% of UK exports in goods and services went to other countries in the EU in 2016—£240 billion out of £550 billion total exports.

Add on another 21% to countries with which the EU is negotiating a trade deal and you're at around 85%.

The source is an MP (click here).

I admit that I read the tweet this morning and couldn't correctly recall all of it (although did roughly remember the numbers), however 64% of our exports (including some non-EU countries) is a huge number, and adding on the trade deals in negotiation makes the potential for the UK inside the EU even greater. There's a graph in more detail if you scroll down.

From his bottom I would think.

The moral would be use Google rather than your bottom to fact check.

I never stated, nor did I imply that 80% of UK exports go to the EU. Read what I wrote again as naturally those responding above haven't taken the time to do so, hence we're not getting any sensible answers.
