Yes it's from Cameron's days but that's not so long ago and the current Tory government aren't changing anything drastically from then are they?

When did the really savage austerity measures kick in? 2016?

What works for whom though? For me this present Govmt 'does not work'. Not for selfish reasons but I would contend that Tory Govmts don't work for people who are young, poor, disadvantaged, vulnerable etc. In my post I was adding debt and propery ownership as reasons why people don't rebel. I think we worship house ownership in this country and see it as symbolic of having 'made it'....I'm contending that's rather short sighted for the reasons I've given.
I not keen on present government but that doesn't alter the fact that a radical socialist government would be bad for country. I don't think we do worship home ownership it this country people like it because it's the best option for most people.

Given that radical capitalism doesn't seem to be working, socialism might be worth a try? I mean, all we have to do is look after the needy, it's not that radical.

If either main party can somehow manage to put out a vaguely centrist leader at the next election then they will get my vote, I doubt they will though, I suspect the Tories will go to the Right with their next leader and Labour will stay with Corbyn.

I had a great-uncle who was a Japanese PoW camp and treated terribly. I'm not aware of anyone in my family who hates the great children of his captors. Seems bizarre to me that anyone would think this is an excuse for hate - it's irrational.

It would be irrational if anyone had actually thought it.

If that's what the young generation want then let them vote for it they are the ones who will have to pay for it in the long term. What disappoints me is that with the current Labour policies it leaves people like me with nowhere to go leaving us worried about what the future holds.

That's my fear all Corbyn will achieve is a more right wing Tory party.

Anyone remember the good old days (I.e. from around 2005) when we all moaned about there not being any difference between the main parties?

Well now we can all moan about them being too different.

Because that has worked out so well for Venezuela, hasn't it? Or do you just want Corby as a leader for life like China has just decided with Xi Jinping?

Property ownership has became a leveraged investment rather than a home.
