    1. They've told us it'll be a replica
    2. We don't have time to negotiate a bespoke deal.
There is time for some differences we are already completely aligned. If you say, this is what you can have full stop that is not a negotiation, even if you say you can have A or B that is not a negotiation its a choice.

You must admit that a lot of time has been consumed at all levels with Brexit, both houses, civil servants, admin, that could have been spent on something else?
Could’ve been, but knowing what our politicians are, wouldn’t have been.

    Lots of others. ;)

Have a look at this and note that on a global happiness index the UK is in #34.
Where is Luxembourg in this index do I hear you ask?
#139 out of 140 countries, 2nd from the bottom!
    http://happyplanetindex.org/countries/united-kingdom
    http://happyplanetindex.org/countries/luxembourg
It looks like the UK population is generally pretty happy with its lot, gfplux.
Although as thrugelmir says, you might not realize this with your being abroad.
Don't pay so much heed to the extremists (on both sides) in these forums.

France #44; Germany #49; Italy #60 if you're interested. For balance Spain was #15 - but neighbour Portugal #79. ;)

The ONS seems to agree that in the first year since Brexit was announced the UK officially became happier too in their June 2017 wellbeing statistical bulletin.
    :T
Or could it be that in that kingdom of tax avoidance Luxembourg, incomes are simply too high?
As it’s been ‘scientifically’ proven elsewhere that once income goes above a certain level (eg £50,000 pa) happiness declines.

We are currently aligned, but any divergence will take time to discuss.
I dare say we can make a few small changes to an existing deal, but we can't spend years starting from scratch.

The people have spoken though. Thats why I prefer the UK form of democracy. Rather than a return to feudalism. One hopes in the longer term it'll improve the poor level of political representation we currently have in this country. As lost skills will be reborn.

Indeed they have and a marginal result has divided the nation and consumed Government in solving the problems of a divided Conservative Party.

Poor representation is not new. We used to blame the EU for such things, one wonders who we will blame now when things go wrong. I suspect that for the next 10 years many Leavers will blame the EU for whatever problems the British have.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

That could take over a year on it's own.
