Anyone like to make any predictions as to how long the NHS would last for if the UK became a member of the state of Europe? I can't see it being funded from Europe because most other European countries run an insurance based health service.

I think if you work in the NHS you would want to support Brexit?

I can't see a us of e harming the nhs. Brexit will, especially since the USA want in on it as part of the trade deal.

There's plenty of work teaching English in a lot of places in the eurozone. Freedom of movement at least let's someone go and look. With the work visa schemes you need a job offer to enter.

But you're right, finding a job anywhere with no skills or qualifications is hard.

There are a lot of (adventurous or desperate?) young unqualified EU27 people working in the catering/hospitality business in London. They arrive with poor or little English.
How many young unqualified young British people do the same in other European capitals?

I am not saying that Youth unemployment might be an issue but it is a shame that young Brits are not doing the same.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

    What do you mean
most other European countries run an insurance based health service
Do you mean workers pay social security to the state. Surely that is the same as the UK system.
Are you sure you know how the various systems work?

How long have you been away?
There are a myriad of differences between various European healthcare systems and the way they are funded and accessed.
For better or worse, I too can’t see the NHS and it’s quite distinct approach to providing healthcare to UK citizens lasting to long in a future EU federal superstate that brings healthcare under its umbrella.

Other EU countries have a labyrinth of red tape to greet new workers: This suits the locals best. By contrast the UK has wide open regulatory doors.

    OFF TOPIC.

I have been away long enough just to have lost my vote in the country of my birth but also not long enough not to be able to compare the British NHS to other better funded systems.

I agree there are many different ways of funding health care in the EU28.

I also hear a lot about the NHS being the best in the world, if only it had enough money!

Well there is a debate to be had when health care is free or nearly free at point of delivery about how much money can be given to the money pit that is better diagnoses with better but expensive treatment in an ageing society. Let us set that aside.

I live in one of a number of European Countrys that fund health care in a similar manner to the UK. (Social security payments and Government funds) it differs slightly from the UK in so much it is +/-80-95% free at point of delivery and is very well funded.
The NHS is not distinctly different in its way of providing health care unless you are referring to people who wait for treatment lying on trolleys in Hospital corridors!
You and others living in the UK may know better than me about the EU so I would like you to provide a credible link to plans to amalgamate health care within the EU. I would be very surprised if you could because healthcare is, just like Britain is considered untouchable.

    On topic

The fact that presently any citizen of the EU28 can receive treatment in any member country as if they were a citizen of that country is a huge benefit that Britain might soon lose.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

That may or may not be true but you will be soon changing that won’t you.

The opposite is true. Those of us who see Brexit as an opportunity believe that the ties that the EU bind us with will be considerably loosened.

I’ve no idea if there are plans to amalgamate EU healthcare provision in the event of a Federal Europe, like you I was just running with it in response to another poster.
I was honest enough to preface my answer with the words “for better or worse” when I wrote about the NHS being possibly subsumed by a wider European healthcare system in the future. You I note, as you so often do, chose to slag off the nation of your birth with gusto.
What do you mean by your own healthcare access being “nearly free” or “80-95% free”?
I suspect this proves the point that there are distinct differences in our respective ways of delivering healthcare, and any change could be seen as a negative to many UK citizens.

There isn't an infinite amount of money though. Those with money prefer to shelter it from tax or move overseas to lower tax paying jurisdications. Decisions have to be made as to what the NHS provides and what it doesn't.
