These days poverty means you can afford your Sky subscription and broadband but you have to go to the food bank for food..

There are a lot of dangerous myths about food banks. It's unlikely anyone who could afford sky could use a food bank; there are lots of hoops to jump through first.

A lot seems to be being caused by benefits sanctions rather than anything else.

Some people do give the unemployed a bad name (I know a few) but they are a tiny, obnoxious minority.

Totally agree, I love this country and what it allows us to do. We run our own business, we get assistance when we want it but most of the time we are allowed to do as we please (within the normal legal/tax bounds). It is indeed a wonderful time to live here.

Poverty is defined differently in these days, many years ago poverty was begging on the streets and no food in your belly, no heating, no TV, no nothing. These days poverty means you can afford your Sky subscription and broadband but you have to go to the food bank for food. I am not saying everyone is like that, but some people that complain they have no money whilst smoking and drinking seriously have to reconsider the way they spend their money.

I think what made my mind up about peoples attitudes is the time I was standing outside school listening to this woman who was in designer clothes and trainers, the size of the back end of a bus, and chain smoking, she was complaining that the council would not give her any more money for school uniform. OK, maybe her size might have been medical, but I am pretty sure she was smoking enough money to pay for several years' worth of school uniform.

And yes, I know I will get attacked for this, but surely people that want help should be required to help themselves first, they should be given lessons in money management, and helped to stop smoking. And yes, I do have other experience of this, a friend of mine has a grandson, his mother smokes heavily and often "cannot afford" to feed her son, she would be at the food bank if my friend did not sub her.

So maybe the growth of food banks is somewhat related to the "me first" culture you see these days.

Why would you be attacked for holding such uncharitable views. I’m all right jack, pull up the drawbridge YOU will be better of after 30th March 2019 is what you and the other 51% voted for.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

The growth in food bank use is a lefty myth then?

Its like saying there is no reason for anyone in the UK to stink we long ago mastered plumbing and hygiene yet there are lots of stinky people in the UK. Its not the economy or the government its their own personal problems like addictions of mental deficiency or down right not knowing any better.

Most people who plead poverty in the UK are lying
Like that obease woman on question time who had a go at the Tory MP
She cried out that due to the tax cuts she had to go to bed hungry
The BBC did a follow up interview at her home
She looked to be a fake self employed nail artist person
She was not just fat she was obease
Plus she had two large dogs

That is the poverty we have in the UK lying fat single women with two large dogs and 30kg of excess fat crying her Tax credits getting cut mean she can only feed her kids and her two big dogs and nothing is left for her fat lying !!!.

The cherry on the cake is that is liar is now a head of some momentum regional group

Once more there is no poverty in the UK
There are cases of dysfunctional families and cases of liars

The right needs to stand up to the lefties painting a negative picture because its all fake
This is a great country with full employment high wages lots of freedom and opportunity.

The growth of people using food banks is not a lefty myth however what is a lefty myth is the reason why people are using them.

I wager if you looked into each and every case of foodbank use you would see people using their income for things other than what the rest of society see as essentials.

Think how much people have used//rely on the likes of Brighthouse to buy cookers, sofa's,TV's etc where they are paying 300% more for each product and paying over 3-5yrs. How many choose to have 2+ dogs they need to buy food for ,smart phones, sky TV. You would be surprised how many people on benefits can afford to run a car which never ceases to amaze me. A car is not an essential in 90% of the country but when someone buys a £250 rot box they still need insurance, tax, fuel etc.

Its in the Lefts best interest to portray those on benefits as victims purely to gain their votes and the votes of the Liberal hard of thinking. Look at how Blair bribed the working class with tax credits purely to make them rely on Labour. Under Blair people with kids were paid more in benefits for sitting at home on their @rses doing nothing than many people who didn't have children were earning whilst working 50+hrs a week. If you have have kids its still a gateway to a decent benefits lifestyle, only difference today is you would be expected to work for 16+hrs a week to get them.

I went to Tunbridge Wells a few weeks ago and sat having a coffee outside and watched a young "homeless" girl in her mid 20's and she was chatting on her Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to a friend and she had the most beautifully painted ,manicured nailes I've ever seen. Now I'm not suggesting she is typical of a homeless person but my point is don't judge a book by its cover. Plenty of "homeless" in Hastings spend the day begging and go home at night to a house or flat.

    Hahahaha

850,000 who are stealing my money basically!!

This is why i give ZERO to charity. Unfortunately i have already paid my charity through my incomes taxes which i know i will never get back and is wasted.

We need to get out of this socialist political project called the EU. We would be a far better country if we never joined them in 1973.

That is like saying the value of the pound is purely set by speculation which is undoubtedly true in the short term but Long term it must be economic performance and balance of trade.

Also for FX to be that big a number I am sure most of it must be very short term speculation perhaps only on the order of seconds or minutes.

I think this £10 billion a year is quite significant.
Think of it this way what happens to the currency of petro states when oil moves up or down a lot. Russian ruble lost half its value alongside oil. Roughly speaking the Russians lost 10% of their 2014 GDP to the oil slide but their currency lost closer to 60% of its value.

The lost oil income was probably tiny compared to daily FX trade but daily FX is just mostly a two way dance while the lost oil income was a real one way move. Likewise sure the pound might be £50 billion a day FX trade but its mostly a two way dance. The £10 billion a year not flowing to the EU is a real one way move.

Obviously import export changes are bigger and more important but this £10 billion is going to play a part more money in the UK to cut taxes but also a slight bump up in the pound compared to what it otherwise would be.

The Russians lost 10% to the oil slide but they also were imposed by sanctions due to the Ukraine crisis back in 2014. this also affected their GDP as well as general confidence in russia hence the 60% slide in RUB. Also RUB is RUB, its not USD, GBP, JPY etc.

So currency not only is affected by balance of trade but also by confidence in the government/country along with rates, inflation.

What i calculated was based purely on if the £ was converted to EUR. So if no conversion takes place currently when we give the money to the EU, then my calculation was pointless. All i was showing was if there was a conversion from £ to EUR, what impact would it have on the fx market.

How much the FX market has priced in the fact that we will not be paying 10bn a year is the real question. since fx markets are affected by trade deficit and since the market knows now that in 2019 if everything else remains the same the trade deficit will be reduced by 10bn then its a question of if anything else changes that would affect the sterling.

Isn't it great to have your own currency which can be devalued if the need arises?

The UK did receive funding for many of its poorer regions until the eastern European states joined. Part of the reason they joined is because Tony Blair in particular petitioned for the EU's expansion.

We really need to get rid of the left, people like blair, obama, corbyn, EU bureaucrats, have or are destroying the western world. We need more people like Trump in power, someone with a backbone and is only interested in the country's prosperity.
