Qatar goes ahead with $6.7 billion Typhoon combat jets deal with UK's BAE Systems
Qatar goes ahead with Eurofighter deal? Thanks for the heads up, tracey.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.
  • You guys might need to start clicking your heels together and making wishes.

The odds of a hard brexit have diminished dramatically but keep hoping that 'nothing is agreed until everything is agreed' might mean no agreement will be reached.

You never know it might actually be in the interests of the UK to have a trade deal with the EU.
No, it is in the interests of both to obtain a trade deal and not just the UK.
Despite the assertions of some remainers that a WTO walkout is desirable by leavers, they're as usual deliberately misinterpreting what has been said - which is that it is preferable to a bad deal.
If the EU don't accept (or at least compromise and meet part-way with) UK suggestions regarding future trade etc. etc. then no final deal will be reached.
Statements as released from both sides recognise that to be true despite the continued bleating of those remainers.
Again (let's see if it will sink in this time) the WTO option is better then the EU proposing a bad deal and thus despite your assertions is not necessarily the preferred option.

No prob's, even if you're being unusually desperate in trying to decry yet more good news for the UK.
BTW the correct name is "Eurofighter Typhoon".
    Where are these made, mayonnaise?

I don't think that'll happen but the opposite of 'no deal' isn't remaining in the customs union, single market and accepting the four freedoms.
    .
True so what would yo be happy with.

Depends what bit of the aircraft you're talking about, tracey...

The Eurofighter consortium is based and registered in Munich.
Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH is the company that co-ordinates the
design, production and upgrade of the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.
The four partner nations of Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK established
the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA) to
manage their requirements and act as the primary customer interface
with industry. Similarly, the national aerospace companies – Airbus, BAE
Systems and Leonardo) established Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH to
act as the primary interface with the customer (NETMA) and coordinate
    the programme across industry
EUROJET, comprising Rolls-Royce (RR), MTU Aero Engines, Avio and
Industria de Turbo Propulsores (ITP), is the industrial consortium
responsible for management of the development, production,
maintenance and sales of the EJ200 engine.

I don't have a problem with the four freedoms, single market or customs union so that would suit me. That isn't very likely so whatever's closest. Happy is the wrong word - I'm looking for the least worst option.

Don't particularly have an issue with leaving the customs union because it would be good to see if the brexiteers can deliver on decent trade deals.
I think most people would be happy with something near single market and customs union without four freedoms but not sure thats possible.

It seems that some are incapable of understanding that there is no withdrawal agreement until everything is agreed and that, as such, nothing at all is legally enforcable until any final agreement is signed.
Surely that should be common sense?

The agreement last week was between the UK government and the DUP.

The DUP get what they want, the conservatives stay in power.

It's like saying you're leaving your gas provider because BT put up your phone bill.

The Irish people have been pretty forthcoming in dealing with being screwed over by the UK government in the past.
I don't think that'll happen but the opposite of 'no deal' isn't remaining in the customs union, single market and accepting the four freedoms.

In terms of what we want out of the EU and the EU want out of us, we either do no deal or effectively in the EU. Nobody in the government has any clue about how to negotiate, or anything to negotiate with.

Trading on WTO terms will be hard if we keep negotiating like idiots. We need to do a deal with the EU to share their quotas. Unfortunately people don't understand what the WTO is, how it works, how we would trade under their terms. We don't make anything good enough to justify the 100% tariffs.

We'll have to start being nice to Argentina and all the other countries we stole from.

For my lunch today I enjoyed a baguette with brie and ham. My baker assures me the flour used is French, the brie is from Cornwall and the ham is locally sourced.
According to mayonnaise though the preference is to think that it is indeed a euro-baguette, ignoring the little fact that in purchasing this I am primarily supporting the profitability and employment of my own local baker.
Perhaps mayonnaise just cannot accept that almost everything purchased today has at least some degree of non-UK-sourced product involved? To concentrate on that misses the point completely, which in the case of the referred-to Typhoon order is
A £6bn deal to sell Eurofighter Typhoons to Qatar will help safeguard thousands of UK jobs.
BAE Systems employs about 5,000 people in the UK to build the fighter jets, mainly at Warton in Lancashire.
Qatar's purchase of 24 jets includes a support and training package from BAE
    and
The UK's deal with Qatar also includes an agreement with MBDA for Brimstone and Meteor missiles and Raytheon's Paveway IV laser-guided bomb.

Of course you're not mayonnaise, oh vinegary one.
Who signed the deal and where does the money go?
It goes to BAE systems who (quoting Wiki - and people can read, despite your attempted misdirection) "conducts the majority of the project".
    As Reuters said,
BAE Systems(BAES.L) and Qatar have entered into a contract valued at around 5 billion pounds

Yes. You've been lied to about everything else, why not movement too?

You're not getting rid of immigration.

Most of our immigration came from outside of the EU, some of the immigration from within the EU could have been controlled but we didn't want to.

All the time blaming the EU because of not being able to sell bananas in various configurations to build resentment. It's a power grab plain and simple and the sheeple who voted to leave will not enjoy the fruits of their xenophobia.

Lest we forget also that if any hard border between ROI and Ulster does appear, it'll be at the behest of the EU rather than the UK.

You realise that is the equivalent of the childhood "why do you keep hitting yourself"?

Also you forget that the UK government will also have a problem when the kippers realise all the immigrants are going to Ireland, through Northern Ireland and then into the UK with no border checks.

I find the naivety of leavers to be astounding.
