By doing so they are putting May on notice that unless she follows their line there will be trouble. What happened to cabinet Government?0 -
The worse possible outcome for Ireland would be border control. There are enough people left in Ireland who will seek military action against that.
If Northern Ireland isn't in the customs union, then they have to have border control.
If the EU and Ireland don't want border controls, simply give us a generous trade deal. No controls needed. See how easy it is.
Balls in EU court. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -
The main problem with Brexit and the negotiation is the Brexiteers overestimating the UK's importance.0

I obviously meant employers.
I have no experience of being in the actual negotiationbut when I was in a union they always settled for less than original claim.
I would hope so. If you get your first offer, then how would they know if they could have gotten more.
The EU are behaving in the same way, the UK government is running the play book of the stereotypical bad employer. The attitude not only reveals the contempt they have for the EU, but it's also a really bad strategy.0 -
That's going back a bit.....besides at least Blair was PM. It seems May is being controlled by hardline Brexiteers around her? How is that representing the views of remainers?
There are 17 remainers and 7 leavers in the cabinet. It seems that it is in fact leavers who are under represented.0 -
Do you not think that the EU demanding ECJ overarch is insulting to the UK. Do you not think that the EU should present an itemised bill instead of saying to us 'how much will you give us?'. Do you not think that the EU demand that Northern Ireland should remain in the Customs Union is insulting to the UK?
Do you think that there is any good reason why the UK should show any flexibility in the face of all these outrageous demands?
Can you imagine them suggesting the separation of Catalonia from Spain?
I wonder why the EU think we should pay for a £90 billion trade deficit with them - surely we should be able to get that for free?Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0 -
