On 27/10 phoned up to register for online banking and asked if money transferred in (£1000+) during the switch process would count as the first £1000 for the bonus and was told YES!I Think I'll double-check!
Just got a comfirmation via "Live Chat" ...... I was told wrong the 1st time!
"The balance you're switching from your existing account to your Clydesdale Bank Account does not qualify as part of the switching criteria. You need to pay in an additional £1000 in the first 31 days and then another £1000 in the next 31 days, I hope this helps. CB Live Chat"
I'll edit my earlier posts regarding this.0 -
Do the direct debits need to be in place before the switch?0

Well what a con, i have been trying to open a b account (well named) since last tuesday. I have forgotten the number of attempts on line always being blocked or kicked out, also by phone unable to get through. Finally registered on line last thursday, only to get a bounce back that they would be in touch within two days. Monday finally talked to someone who checked and said they were having trouble verifying my "address" (must be a joke), and he asked had I not received a letter with a code which I had not. This morning by first class mail I received SIX COPIES of the same verification letter by first class post, all with the same code and all dated 27th. Obviously the "offer" has been withdrawn now. I tried to phone to complain but what do you know, they have placed a recorded message to say sorry offer withdrawn. All I can say is what a joke, this obviously was a selective process.
I certainly will never consider touching this Banking (seriously) group ever again!
Rather than complaining you should, perhaps, get in touch with them by phone or email and (politely, without getting too tetchy!) ask whether, bearing in mind you had applied before the deadline and their letters to you were clearly delayed in the post, you are still eligible. Which you might well be. But don't start by complaining. Start by asking, nicely, whether you're still eligible.0 -
No one's asking you to bend the truth!!!
Just because Money Mail let you know of this before you read it here doesn't mean you can't thank someone here for starting a discussion about it. The 'thank you' button isn't meant purely for 'gosh I'd never have heard of this without you' thanks. It's just a general thanks. I don't see your problem.
Anyway, this is my last post regarding this issue. I seem to be wasting my time with you Mable!
Sorry you should feel that.0 -
Do the direct debits need to be in place before the switch? No, they can be added afterwards. You can switch a dormant account.
Full T&C, which confirm this, still available here: http://www.ybonline.co.uk/resources/e6ff10a6-1b40-4e44-82bb-c58130a1a538/149904_250_Cashback_DU250TCS.pdf0 -
Switched my account on the 26th, Nationwide account being sacrificed, DD's set-up there already (2 x £1) and I've already set up a standing order for the two £1,000 deposits. My only concern at this stage is whether I'll be able to get the £1k back out as I need a security token and although I ordered one, I am not convinced it went through, time will tell.
My wife switched her M&S account yesterday (just after nabbing their £125 voucher offer!), just in the nick of time it would seem, DD's set up there too, (again 2 x £1) just need to set up the SO's for the deposits.
That brings our 12 month total to £1,430, not too shabby!0 -
Thank you.
I have opened the account, do I have to switch straight away?
Qualifying criteria:
1. Complete a current account switch from a non-CYB current account, to a CYB
Personal or Private current account.
2. The switch must be completed using the Current Account Switch Service*, which
involves the transfer of all active credit and debits from the account you hold
with another bank or building society, and the completion of an account closure
instruction for that account.
3. The date which you select for the current account switch to complete must be
within 31 days of your instruction to us.0 -
Thank you.
I have opened the account, do I have to switch straight away?
Well yes, asap, the offer states within 31 days I think. But the offer was pulled this morning, so technically you'll only be eligible if you started the process before that.
A post above (#358) suggests that they've said that if you opened the account before the offer was pulled you're still eligible for the switching bonus, so you might be ok.
But if you haven't yet started a switch I'd ring them to get reassurance first!0
