£4.35 cashback arrived in my bank account overnight and went straight onto the mortgage.
Lots of job conversations yesterday - I called someone who works at the place where there's a possible job to find out more about what it is like to work there and not only is it apparently fabulous, but they also have a role going. So there are definitely things out there. While there is no rush, part of me is keen to get things sorted out. It does make me hopeful that I'll end up with both a short break and cash to throw at the mortgage and top up my savings after paying for the kitchen and dentist.
Looking at my 'stress' data on Garmin (which appears to be up and running properly again after a couple of blips) my body doesn't appear to be resting despite me doing SFA most of the time. The last two days have shown not enough 'rest' to offset stress. And it's showing stress when I'm asleep... so I'm kind of expecting to crash today or tomorrow. Today is the last session for one of the yoga classes I had been doing regularly until now, so I'd kind of like to do it. Next week is the last week of Pilates. I do have some alternative zoom classes lined up beyond that, so I'm hoping that I can slowly build up again.
I haven't been eating that well for the last few days, so need to get a grip. It's only a week until holiday, and I need to be fit enough to enjoy it.6 -
Consultation is bound to be stressful, so don't underestimate the impact that will be having - especially as your boss sounds like a total wally!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

The 'stress' measurement on the garmin is more about physical activity/recovery. I've been reading up on it, and accuracy of HR measurements/pulse oximetry (not a feature on the model I have, but I had wondered whether it was worth upgrading and it appears not...). It's really designed to tell you whether you're ready to exercise. The good news is that whatever else is going on, my fitness age is 20

Much sympathy from me both on the fatigue and the work situation. Hurrah for the emergency fund as always.

Thanks @redofromstart. I have to summon up a bit of enthusiasm for work as I need to get a slide deck done and sent off before holiday. I've got a last-minute speaking slot at a virtual event, and in the current situation can't really afford to turn it down as it's good for my profile. I need to do some work on my LinkedIn profile - adding all my blog posts etc. I'm not sure what else. I'm not good at writing about what my achievements are (or even having any real idea about what I've achieved as once it's done I tend to be on to the next thing...). I've had a couple of recommendations written though, which is nice. I must remember to ask for more periodically, and also write some for other people.
Fingers crossed eating properly will help the energy levels. I did pilates this morning and then spent quite a bit of time resting...
I've rearranged some hoses so the two big raised beds are now attached to the automated watering system that runs off the tap. What I can't work out how to do (yet) is get the courgettes watered at the same time without over-watering them. And I still haven't set up the greenhouse watering system so have no clue whether it will work. I guess that needs to be a priority tomorrow. Along with doing those slides, obviously!
Oh... I've also managed to put some hooks and string on a pinboard and put it up in the kitchen. So now I can start making lists of what needs doing and put them on there

Getting ready to go on holiday - hopefully at the crack of dawn tomorrow.
My mum is here, and spent yesterday deadheading and weeding. We've been eating lots of home grown veg - I'd saved the broad beans and mangetout for when she arrived - these have now been harvested, pulled up and composted. We've also harvested the carrots to take with us and are busy washing all the lettuce from the cut & come again plants that had turned into triffids and were falling over. We have enough lettuce for everyone for the rest of the week! As it's so hot today, we were up early and I managed to cut a lot of the long grass with a billhook/hand scythe and fill up all the garden waste bags before the bin men arrived. I also dragged a couple more barrow-loads of weed out of the stream to top up the compost heap, and have filled and stirred the hotbin. I dredged some of the lovely stinky mud from the bottom of the stream to add to the raised beds that we have emptied, and I'll top it up with some more compost and sow some seeds before we go. Strawberries have loads of runners, so those will need removing and potting up when I get back. Washing has been done, security camera with low battery has been taken down to recharge.
It's now too hot to be outside, so we've retreated indoors and I really should start sorting out clothes and packing.
When it cools down I need to do a bit more outside - bring the hammock in, fill the water butts from the hose, possibly set up the greenhouse watering system (I really should have done this ages ago so I could test it), add some more drippers (arriving today) to the raised planters and fill the plastic bottle waterers as well to give them an extra boost. I don't use plastic bottles, and keep forgetting to ask people for them as I could do with more of these! I also want to deadhead the tops of the roses and tie some of them in now I have the ladder out and someone to hold it. And possibly have a quick run round with the mower at the back...
After that, pack the car up, make a list for the morning and go to bed early as if we're going to go tomorrow we need to leave around 5am. My energy levels seem to have improved, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't crash. I'm going to pack lots of books as well as swimming stuff, and try to rest as much as I can while we're away.7 -
Greenbee, I hope you have a lovely holiday! Just an insight on your to-do list for today: that would take me about 3 days, minimum. But I hope all that lovely fresh food that you're growing will have the desired effect

Holiday was (mostly!) lovely thanks
Did lots of relaxing, a bit of cold water swimming and ate and drank too much. So need to get back on track with the diet shortly.
Garden survived - a neighbour looked after it. She's back at uni soon, so although she didn't ask for payment, I've told her I'll pay her (and made her work out what she's charging me - it's character building).
I had a video call with my old boss's new boss while I was away, and it appears to have gone well as they're expecting to issue an offer next week. I'll have to juggle negotiations there with negotiations at my current employer. I have another meeting tomorrow, which I'm expecting to result in formal notice as there are no suitable alternatives. I've got a couple of client-facing commitments to deliver on, so I'm hoping to negotiate a handover period that covers them and then immediately termination with PILON. A bit of time off will cover rest and my dental work - and if I can persuade the old/new boss, having the kitchen done.
Our new payroll portal doesn't have this month's payslip up yet, but it does tell me when I'm being paid (25th) and how much, so I know my bonus payment is in there, which means I have a big chunk to throw at savings (it will cover most of the dental bill). That and the PILON and redundancy should mean that the kitchen can be finished properly and still leave savings/mortgage/pension money behind.
I need to do more in the garden - the big, netted raised bed only has strawberries in it at the moment so I'll dig through the seed tin and see what might be persuaded to grow over the next couple of months. The courgettes, beans, chard and tomatoes will keep me fed for a few weeks - and I've managed to get an ocado order for tonight with peppers, aubergines and a few other essentials (like ice-cream) for some variety.
