And it's working with someone I like. Doing something that I hope will be interesting.

Thanks all
I had a lie-in this morning after yesterday's exertions... and am now pottering in the garden. My brother has lent me his electric scarifier, which is very satisfying to use. As the next few days should be warm and dry I'm hoping to get most of the rest of the grass done before I go to see my mum for a few days. I've also been lent a pole hedge-trimmer, but I think that might have to wait for a week or so as the grass needs to be done first.
Diet needs to be back under control too - hopefully time with my mum plus my dentist appointment will help that!4 -

I know you hate LI, but your network really is important. I know all the people who were involved in deciding to recruit me have been looking at my LI profile and my Twitter activity. And while roles that involve a high profile (relatively - I'm a big fish but it's a VERY tiny pond!) are a little different, engaging on LI does act as a shop-front to showcase your skills and knowledge.
It does mean I need to get a move on with sorting out the garden!9 -
Greenbee best wishes and good luck in your new role. x

All the paperwork has now arrived, so I've signed and am busy completing onboarding paperwork while listening to a conference keynote.
Half the kitchen is painted, and I've made further inroads into the garden, as well as having offloaded some stuff from the garage onto a couple of friends!6 -
Congratulations greenbee!

Time for an update - I had a few days off with my mum which was lovely. She's come home with me and is driving me crackers, but it's nice to have her hear while I recover from my dental bone graft which was on Monday. So far it hasn't been as bad as the gum graft was, so fingers crossed it heals more effectively. We've been doing some sorting out and clearing up - lots of kitchen stuff has been put upstairs rather than going back into the painted (and cleaned!) kitchen as there is no point in moving in twice. I've got rid of quite a bit of stuff from the garage on the local FB group. What didn't go now needs reposting on another local group. I have some electricals to go to the tip too, but really can't face that, so they may sit around for a while! I had a conference to attend yesterday, so tidied my drawers and wardrobes as well as putting away all the cushions I use in the garden.
Payday tomorrow, and payslip finally appeared online today, so I need to spend some time on my finances to work out what to do with it. September's 4 days, 3 days' holiday, 3 months' PILON, redundancy pay. Mustn't spend it all at once! Some needs to go into my pension(s) to make up for this month's low contribution and then I need to work out how much I'll be down on a monthly basis and sort out increasing my DDs. But I also need to get on with consolidating both the two schemes my personal pensions are in and the number of funds, as I'm paying way too much in charges as they're set up at the moment. Obviously I need to max out my ISAs (the S&S one is self-managed so I either need to sort it out or possibly transfer it as I have an offer from my endowment fund provider which looks interesting) as those are my short/medium term savings. Keep the instant access topped up, and throw a lump at the pensions. I'll shift more into longer-term savings once I'm out of my probation period (6 months).
I do realise I'm incredibly lucky to be able to go straight from redundancy to a new job and bank the payoff. So I don't want to waste it. It's giving me the opportunity to have some real financial security by reducing the mortgage, paying into my pension and giving me a cushion if my job doesn't work out (this one, or at some point in the future) as well as being able to pay for unexpected bills.
I've also managed to cashflow my dental treatment this month (well, I paid for it on the CC, but saved enough this month to cover it) which is nice. The final bill for the kitchen units is due soon, I'll have the fitting to pay for, plus I need to order all the other outstanding bits. Next month will be expensive, but not quite so stressful knowing I have the money available.9 -
Well done greenbee! You work hard for your luck, thats for sure - and I hope your teeth and gums are healing well.

Thanks KC. Mouth is feeling OK, but I'm nervous about how well it will heal and how much bone will be restored.
Listing on FB is going well. So far the remaining car seat has been collected (space in garage), I have someone arranging their OH & dad and works van to pick up the playhouse sometime soon, and someone wanting 6 panes of greenhouse glass on Saturday. While I'd rather all the glass went, some is better than none... I know I have some tiles I could get rid of too, but that can wait until I'm willing to brave the spiders in the garage...8
