Curtains are good - they work with everything else. And I”m glad they’re done and I don’t have to think about them anymore!
Cornish Fairings are a spiced, gingery biscuit. Bit like a ginger nut.
DW still not behaving. I may discuss with the builders whether they can take it out and put the freestanding one (which I hope still works) in it’s place as it would have to go in when the kitchen comes out anyway (I’m expecting to have a makeshift kitchen for a while).

Managed to get the DW to drain on the rinse cycle this morning, so it has a reprieve for now.
Debating going a. supermarket shopping or b. garden centre shopping. Supermarket is currently winning as the weather isn't damp, dull, and horrid.

And the second heat pump estimate has come in, so I need to think of a polite way to say 'thanks but no thanks' to the first engineer as the second one looks like it should be cheaper (although this one is an estimate, not a quote, so there are details to finalise). Or do I hold off until I've paid for the second survey and had a proper quote? I need to decide today, as the bit I really do need to work out is the space I need to allocate for the plant room.
Might go shopping as a displacement activity!

If it's not an actual quote, then you won't be able to hold him to it. An estimate can and often does purposefully leave off chargeable items. Working on the other side of contracts, we have to ensure that a statement of work is produced so that like is compared to like across the board.
4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)Original End Date - Sept 2041 New projection - Sep 2038 (reduced by 3 years)0 -
I spoke to him about it at the time - as I'd already had another quote he suggested that he give me an estimate before I pay for the survey/design to make sure I was happy with it. They won't be entirely like-for-like as this chap is listening more to my 'this is what I want - I know it's not text book, but this is why'.
I did advise my electrician recently not to provide anyone with fixed quotes of more than about a week at the moment, as I'm finding at work that the big manufacturers are cancelling orders on older contracts and repricing and are issuing new quotes with no guarantee of pricing being held. Hopefully it'll settle down soon, although availability is the next concern.
Incidentally, I see Canada's oil industry is going well, but automotive is suffering as a result of the global chip shortage :)

I supposedly had a phone appointment with my consultant today. No one has called so far, and I'm not expecting anyone to call now. Which means I'll have to waste time tomorrow trying to get hold of someone to find out what happened. I think I'll ask them to just send a letter so I don't have to risk missing meetings for no reason. They don't seem to have a mechanism for telling you they're not going to get to you today. Or for you to provide feedback that your appointment has been forgotten.

This is so poor.

The service is poor isn't it. I've had that happen and been told I did not answer phone - when - the thing was surgically attached to me as I didn't want to miss the call.
Hope you have success chasing that up today.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2
