Dropped along with everything else. I seem to have ended up with more of a value portfolio than a growth one. Forward valuations for things like Finsbury and Fundsmith are pretty low now.

My take on active funds like "Fundsmith" are that the they rise to the top when circumstances suit the fund manager's approach…it would have been another fund at a different time. Then circumstances change and the once top performer starts to falter to be replaced by another "flavour of the month". The test is how the fund recovers and many simply don't.

And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

Very true. What has kept me invested in Fundsmith is that they haven't changed the approach as that would indicate a lack of commitment to the strategy and likely underperformance. I am perfectly able to swap funds myself if I prefer a different route and don't need the manager to do it.

So hopefully quality growth funds will still do what they are built to do. Protect from the worst crashes, which they certainly did in 2020 and 2008, and provide a good return over the long run.

A few more months like last months would be nice TBC15 up 17 %.

Poor month for gold down 1.8%.
