PIP assessment tomorrow, how to prove am terrible with budgeting?

The govt decided to exclude mentally ill as disabled to save millions. Only severely physically disabled will get PIP
This is not true. My disabilities are physical but actually the assessor at hte face to face appointment brought up depression as well and included that in her assessment - I'd not mentioned it on the form only in the medication I think.0 -
I showered dressed normally did not maintain eye contact
I filed complaint against assessor I saw today in Hounslow. I made the mistake of telling her earlier on: “I am here for budgeting issues and difficulty with people only.”
The first set of questions, when she asked me about people, she interrupted me, she said “ now I'm doing a brief questioning, I will ask you more about that and other things later ”. She interrupted me right when i was saying “I need someone with me when with people”. Thing is, she craftily did not ask me to know more about my issues with people and my budgeting difficulties later. That is not right since she knew that why was why I was there and she said she would go into people issues later.. I did not get to say that i am unable to make complicated decisions re budgeting, i need someone to tell me how to budget and spend wisely....these 2 most important subjects, she knew was why i am applying for PIP she missed out altogether, concentrating on things I won’t get points for.
I went to toilet after and then realised what she did.
I asked to see the Manager. They said the manager is not here. I said I will wait. She said “no manager today”.
i should have wrote down what I wanted to say as she asked general questions and i got anxious and forgot for example to say i need someone to help me make complicated budget decisions...forgot to mention why i overspend, makes me feel good etc etc.
he mistake i made was not requesting a recording 3 days earlier as it they refused me that. If it was recorded it would have gone as it should.
The person with me they said is not a legal witness as i thought and they cannot come to court. She made piles of notes which they copied
I told them in reception area that she deceived me, I would get PIP in tribunal then left0 -

Did you show any written evidence that you can add/substract, that you don't understand the concept of spending more than what is in your account? Did you show her that you don't have debit/credit cards because you don't understand how to use them, and show how someone manages your account on your behalf and only gives you cash when you need it?
From what you've said, your issue is that you overspend (as most do) and have issues with being absent-minded (yeah, sleep deprivation when my children were little, not sleeping through the night and I was working FT resulted in the same horrifying mistakes). This doesn't equal to being incapable of budgeting (unlike someone with severe learning difficulties or Alzheimer).0 -
How manipulative, good luck0

I imagine the Assessor, along with almost everybody on here reading your thread, saw you for what you are - someone trying to get a benefit they're not actually entitled to.0

Those two activities on their own would be very unlikely to get you the required 8 points for a DL PIP award.
Needing social support for engagement with others (having someone with you) is 4 points.
Needing assistance to manage budgets (and not overspend due to poor mental health) would get you 2 points.
So, a total of 6. Two points short of an award.
It was good that the assessor didn't limit the discussion and asked you about the other descriptors. For someone with GAD, the other descriptor(s) that could often apply would be preparing a meal and taking nutrition reliably - this is because anxiety can usually affect appetite and people may not eat to an acceptable standard without prompting.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -
If you want an example of a person who really can't budget I can describe the situation of a special needs student who came to my basic skills classes.
Incidentally, your local college will have free courses in reading writing and maths, where everything is tailored to your needs. The maths teacher would be happy to work on budgeting and the English teacher would help with letter writing and speaking to people in appropriate language. (eg a letter of complaint would use different language from that in a phone call to a mate)
Back to the student :
He knew what money was and that 'silver' was worth more than 'brown' ,but he thought that the value of a coin depended on its size so thought a pound coin was worth less than a 10p coin. All paper money, he knew to be worth more, but the different values meant nothing to him, as he could barely read. He could give change out of 5p, occasionally 10p and could add the value of two items in single figures eg 3p and 2p, £4 and £1.
He was very good natured and unscrupulous shop assistants had taken advantage of this ,as he'd hand them a fist full of money to take what they needed.
This is a genuine case of someone unable to manage money, as he was damaged at birth, but came from a family where parents and sister had PhDs.0 -
similarly being able to cognitively budget but not able to eg pay in cheques or go out and take money from a cash machine doesn't count as unable to manage money. Rightly I htink (and I would have gained points on that if it did) because it's a very different level of and type of difficulty than not being able to handle money in the way teddysmum describes - especially now when most things are doable online or even on mobile phone apps0
