What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 25th September?

What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 4 September
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Morning - just a quick post while I'm sitting here drinking coffee & feeling sorry for myself! I came down with a virus yesterday and have felt shocking! Slept on and off yesterday. Suspect today will be similar...

[STRIKE]Payday today so will do money shuffle. will go through accounts and straighten everything out[/STRIKE]

GC budget for the month so far is £120.60/£160 :T can't imagine we'll need to spend more than a couple of quid before the end of the month :D any lo will go into the "xmas food" savings pot which is almost at £100 - which just so happens to be the target I have ;) Since Jan I've been siphoning any lo GC budget into this account :money:

[STRIKE]Sweep d/s to try and stay on top of house[/STRIKE] think I'm doing ok for someone at death's door!

[STRIKE]get soup out of freezer for lunch[/STRIKE]

want to call in at the lottie at some point and pick raspberries - am 300grms away from making raspberry and prosecco jam :)

[STRIKE]See if I can throw together a casserole for minimum effort![/STRIKE] decided to pesto pasta using 1/2 har of frozen pesto and hg veg, will throw in a chicken breast for the meat eaters ;). ys noodles as well :money:

    Sleep!

Have a great day guys x

  • Sorry your not well determined hope you feel better soon. Your jam sounds lush ;)

    My list for today:
Make yogurt cake - done, added a nectarine that was on the turn
DD and I have last two nectaries in packed lunch
I only actually have a snack box of fruit as work are buying me lunch. Hope it stops persisting it down before I have to walk out though
Hope commute is kind, tons of rain and a Monday - what joy. Anything less than 90 minutes will be a bonus. Taking hot drink just in case
    Quick shower, hair dry naturally
Everyone else can have left over BBQ food for tea, I'll have a snack as picked a meal off menu for lunch rather than a sandwich :T
Finished knitting body of jumper last night, just need to cast off. Cat fell asleep on me and knitting when I was on last row so couldn't turn it over to cast off and didn't have the heart to shift him. Plus - free heating :rotfl:
More knitting tonight, see if I can learn to pick up stitches from the neck I cast off, if not you tube will be my friend
Check fridge for anything that needs using/ freezing

Right, think that's it, have a good day folks.
  • Get well soon DNMS! I'm well jel of your GC spends. We've reduced ours by loads this month and have spent £195 so far but Saturday seems a long way off...! Really need to meal plan...!!
  • I like this thread but rarely join in, so decided to today.

    Today I'm going

Continue my big clear out so my house is easier to run and I can be more focussed on important stuff.
Measure up mum so I can make her Christmas gift.
Use flour and yeast I have in to make bread rather than buying it.

The rest of the year is time for me to get sorted once and for all.
    1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

La E I've been making a special effort to use what we have in rather than "what we want" I'm also self sufficient in veg and 75% fruit at the moment because of the allotment. I also almost always buy things like yogurts when they are ys and freeze for madam. Oh is being subjected to vegetarian meals 3 x pw much to his Brazilian disgust! :rotfl: (he would eat 1/2 a cow a day if I let him!) Also now madam is having school meals a couple of times a week we just have something on toast, soup/something quick easy and super cheap

Morning all, hope you feel better soon, DNMS, and thanks for the shiny new thread!

Purps, I don't envy you the commute, I might have mentioned it once or twice ;) but I don't have to do that any more!!!:j:j

I'm feeling guilty lying in bed drinking a cup of tea but I was awake until 4am thinking of stuff and researching supplies and this morning I have been looking for cheap wool and Pom Pom makers rather than buying them. It's hard getting my head round the fact that, for half of the week at least, this IS work now!

Brunch is going to be fried tomatoes and egg on toast, my current favourite and I need to bring tea bags in from the can as I only have posh ones left indoors and they're really not cutting it! (I like to be able to stand a spoon up in my tea!)

I need to pop to the post office at some point to weigh and price a large eBay item that will hopefully sell this time if I can offer postage. I will also do a quick scout around town for more job ads for Job Spotter while I'm there as I've not done that part of town yet, then I will cash out.

I need to check whether enough things have been approved on PA for me to cash out yet.

I've still never t got around to cooking the lamb meatballs, maybe tonight will be the night.

Have a good day all :)

  • Morning everyone,

I'm off today, so thought today the best day to re-register with the forum (old email etc got hacked and forgot my password to my old account on this).
This week it's meals from freezer and cupboards until OH gets paid on Wed and myself on Fri.
Aiming for 3 NSD this week.
I need to post away OH driving license amendment forms as we got married a few weeks ago and she's updating her name - I'll do that today.
Going to spend today working out what I owe, to who and how I'm going to do it, feeling really optimistic!

I'm off to the old style board to check some frugal recipes :)

    Cheers

    J
