    neeeeeed sleep...

Twinkle was up twice, Pixie was up, I was up... Cat thought my bed was Silverstone!!

Twinkle is STILL whining.. I'm pretty sure it isn't necessary!

Pixie has a party after school today.. best dig out a gift!

I have 3 ebay parcels to post so I will sort those next.. and ignore the squawking!

Uni here has had its second evacuation in 3 days.. someone discarded their bag sparking a bomb scare.. it's a freaking university!!!! What the heck is wrong with people.. the bag, shockingly, was full of pencils and notepads.. !! Freshers/alcohol/cocaine = this is funny lets all leave our bags in random places!!

OH just been given another interview (to fork up!) ... it is SO frustrating!!

School pics weren't 'too' traumatic.. we were the last family group done.. me running late? never!!

He's getting interviews. At some point, he'll be so familiar with the process, he'll have no option but to ace one, particularly with the recent employment history providing him with references. In the meantime, he's learning from each.

Himself has just applied for a job he could do easily. He's stuffed up so many interviews in the past, but he's become convinced they're like rehearsals - if they all go perfectly, there's probably something wrong. He's had a few places that have messed him around, which is largely for the best, as if they're so poor at recruitment, they're going to be absolutely horrendous to work for.

I've spent 90 minutes today teaching somebody who has the same job title as me essentially what a computer is. I had urgent things to do, but she'd been sent off by her line manager with a 'oh, go and see Jojo about it'. She's a lovely lady, but, really, to employ somebody for one thing, not offer any training and then assume the other staff member with the same job title will teach her skills that any seven year old has already mastered (ie, 'you need to go ''click click'' there, that's called a doubleclick, that's called a cursor, this is the backspace key, you use these keys called Shift to make capital letters'), well, it baffles me how anybody could ever think that was an appropriate management decision.

But I suppose they didn't think they'd need somebody in her original department able to do anything more strenuous than a bit of tidying up and photocopying (but not booklet production, size changes, printing things off, or anything beyond putting the original face down on the glass and pressing the big green button) - I would expect that had my current job been advertised last year, they'd have assumed they could get by with somebody just like her, rather than a mardy mare who doesn't particularly like being told what to do, looks and sounds a bit weird, isn't intimidated by SLT and has a suspicion that the entire working world is infested with and managed largely by idiots.

But I've got the job and it at least pays the rent, even though we'd still be better off in terms of £££ on benefits - because whatever happens, I know I've got at least 1 month's money guaranteed - on benefits, the first you know of there being a problem is usually when there's no money - and then you have to deal with trying to sort it out when you have no money to eat, pay the rent, make the calls and you could be dealing with normal people or ones who are stupid to the point of malice. I don't ever want to be completely beholden to brown envelopes or appointments with 'advisors' or 'appointed experts' again - being stuck in a crap job with not enough money is a damn sight better than being trapped on benefits and never being totally certain if there is going to be money in the bank tomorrow.

    It's hard, yes. Putting it bluntly, though (because we all know you don't do hugs), even if it takes longer than you would like for him to get a job that suits both of you better, that baby of yours is going be capable of walking up those stairs soon enough and then you won't have to try and carry her, the way this government is going, there ain't gonna be any benefits, so it's better to get yourselves with some income that isn't dependent upon them before thousands of people are all scrambling for jobs all at once, your insides and whatnots will be sorted out, whether by the NHS after a lengthy wait or sooner privately and then a lot of what you find so bad won't be as difficult anymore, and, moreover;

no matter how hard this is right now - it's not as hard as being married to CF, is it?
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

    OMIGOSHANDGOLLY...

The job he did the trial shift for on Monday and were supposed to let him know Tuesday and didn't, so we assumed he hadn't got it.. they called him today offering him the job they initially gave him in August... most weird... BUT.. they said he can have Monday and Wednesday off so he can do college.. He has induction Monday at 7pm but we have been here before and when he turned up for induction they said they had given it to someone who had turned the job down 2 weeks previously.

So, induction Monday, after a job interview elsewhere.. just in case right! .. and hand in notice Tuesday and start Friday all being well.. we shall see how it goes..

    Chocolate orange eaten in celebration..

Off to start applying for DS2 a job.. that will be a challenge and 3 halves!!

DW loaded.. food scoffed.. OH took the tub of tuna pasta instead of his lunch lol.. so he just had that for dinner.

In the corner, butting up to the guides so it's within the area bounded by the A4 marker...because even though these people have degrees DOES NOT mean they can effectively engage with technology!

I am so proud of my class - I am seeing some super behaviour and I think they might now be my favourites. And I get hugs. And I am old enough, and of the right gender, to give them hugs back.

And if your little one was feeling blue because they were going to daddy's and not seeing mummy would you not want them consoled? I promised her that mummy and daddy love her. Think I'm on safe ground there...

They now know that I was not born when the castle we visited was built - 850 years ago. I resisted the temptation to tell them I feel 850 sometimes...

Done eff all in the hovel though

  • Congrats, Mr Pigpen, and Wow! JoJo, how right were you?!
    Better is good enough.
  • Hi all

    Yay MrPigpen keeping everything crossed.

Good post JoJo. I lived on benefits for a while and you are so right, the uncertainty of knowing that someone could take that income away from you at a moments notice is horrible. I used to dread brown envelopes in the post.

So, anxiety levels are through the roof. Have not slept. Feel like someone has switched me into hyperdrive so I cant switch off my thoughts and I cant settle. This is mainly about my job (which I hate and I am in a real dilemma about) but also because I am feeling a bit under the weather. And other things.

Going to channel the restlessness into some paid stuff. Might as well be earning some money out of feeling dreadful. WM is on, one load to hang out. DW needs emptying. Have put DS1s dry clean only trousers on the WM because they have a greasy mark on them. Fingers crossed they are OK!

DS2 is safely tucked up in bed after a 40 mile round trip to collect him at 1.30am. I will miss them when they leave home wont I?

The hovel will wait; that child needed that hug. Good on you. So glad the trip went smoothly.

Sorry you're feeling anxious, YL. Have a (((hug))). I hope things improve really soon for you.

The minutes are going to be an utter nightmare. I'm seriously considering leaving most of the discussion out. They should be short, anyway, right? House looking passable for the moment.

Natty, I am so sorry to hear about your DH's diagnosis, but - as others have said - now you can put a name to it you can fight it. Holding you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Channelling restlessness sounds like a good idea, YL. (((Hugs))), and I hope whatever's bothering you about work gets resolved soon.

(((Hugs))) also to Froddy. Don't be afraid to take time off if you need it. But September is now at an end, it's nearly half term! - and then :santa2::xmastree::rudolf: will start early, and you'll be at the end of term before you know it :)

Great news about Mr Pigpen :T Hope the coming week is a major turning point for you all.

Glad the trip went well, Valli - and yes, children need hugs.

HB, my rule is to condense Minutes to 2 sides of A4, including headers and well spaced paragraphs for ease of reading. I never quote people by name unless absolutely necessary - they don't need their egos inflated. I just put something like "After a lively discussion about the colour of the pig's ears, it was agreed that..."

My house is also looking passable... just. Sorry I haven't posted much this week. I don't know where the time has gone - probably dog walking and clearing up after DH who seems incapable of wiping down surfaces without leaving them wet or piling magazines up so that they don't fall over. Oh, we did manage to order a new easy chair for him, after the last one collapsed under him  He has gone to work on the heritage railway today, so Rosie and I are enjoying the quiet.

This morning I have used up the last of our green tomatoes, some cooking apples given to me by a friend, half a packet of raisins, some onions and the last few cloves in the old bulb of garlic, half a bottle of cider vinegar, assorted spices, and a dozen individual sachets of demerara from the coffee shops we went to on holiday, topped up with a bit more from a packet, which is now all simmering together nicely to make some more chutney. I have also done WMx2, S&S'd bathroom and kitchen and tidied the LR. I didn't sleep well last night either, and I might need a few zzz this afternoon.

Next week I need to get into the garden and do some weeding and tidying before the last green bin collection of the year  and I've got about 300 daffodils to plant :eek: (DH went OTT). But tomorrow afternoon we are off to a local scarecrow festival, whatever the weather!

Now that I've finished my :coffee: and the sun is trying to break through, I must take Rosie out for an hour. Such hardship :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a good weekend x

Following a lengthy discussion, to which many/some/all attendees contributed, it was agreed that...

    There you go

I see Ionafan's put something similar;)
