What a huge and inspiring amount of de-cluttering you have done, HH. I hardly know whether to applaud your commitment, or be staggered by the amount you had !!! (well its both)
Why do we do it, the collecting/hoarding ? Other people seem to manage without a need to fill their houses with 'stuff'.
I hate getting rid of things, yet love it when a previously overflowing area frees up.
Still, as long as it never gets so bad I'm in danger of featuring on one of those Hoarders programmes - that would be very humiliating !0 -
Well done on the decluttering :T"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Thank you Elizabeth. The clutter has built up over time and having three children and working from home has added a lot more. I think I've been keeping too much for sentimental reasons because DH, DS1 and DS2 make me feel guilty when I get rid of things . But I need to be more ruthless. After all it it's been out of sight for years, then they've probably forgotten they've got it
.
Well done on the decluttering :T
Thanks Jwil. It may take a while to catch up with your formidable list of de-cluttering :rotfl:.

Volunteering and work were good today and it does do me good to get outside the house. I was in all day yesterday and although I got a lot done, I was starting to feel a bit sad and mopy and think about missing my mum a lot by the end of the day. So going out this morning has been a good distraction. It's a lovely warm sunny day too
.
My friend can't go to Pilates today but I'm still going to go as I always feel better for it and it gets me out of the house and meeting people again, which is always good for my mood.
I'm going to miss school at half term, although part of me is looking forward to doing more de-cluttering. I want to be much more ruthless and get rid of loads of things to free up space.

DE-CLUTTERING PROBLEM AREAS
The office
Four voids
My bedroom
DS1's room
DS2's room
These are the areas I want to tackle now in the de-cluttering challenge. My bedroom is much better, the main void is much improved but I want to have another go at it and reduce it further, the other three small voids are untouched, the office is a nightmare  and DS1 and DS2's rooms are an even bigger nightmare .
So there's still plenty to be done on the de-cluttering front, but Rome wasn't built in a day.
In other news I enjoyed Pilates and I'm very pleased I went. It was a fiver very well spent. My Pilates teacher is leaving
so I hope I like the new one. I've done 13,105 steps so far today and fifty active minutes :j.
Apart from a fiver at Pilates I've only spent 80p on a diet coke, and yesterday was a NSD :money:.
I hope everyone has had a good Monday.

You're doing really well with your de-cluttering HHD especially on top of everything else you're doing
The DC's bedrooms are tricky aren't they, especially as they're adults. Hopefully, when they see other areas of the house looking better, they may feel inspired to let you have a go at their rooms with them.
Did you get in touch with your tutor about the assignment or did you decide to leave it a while longer? xx0 -
Thanks TF2
I forgot to email my tutor but I've just done it now. She still hasn't marked my third assignment and we're meant to hand in our fourth one this Friday .
DS2 has said that we can tidy his room while he's abroad and I think DS1 could be persuaded to let us help him improve his. But those are going to be the hardest areas to de-clutter .Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
