I forgot to do the VAT a few times, they write to you after about a month with an estimated bill, you say whoops, log on with accurate figures and pay the accurate bill same day. If you do it a few times in the same year they write and warn you that if you do it again it'll be a 2% surcharge on the accurate figures, rather than a flat rate fine. Hope this helps.
  • Thanks Redo :). I hope we don't get fined as we did try to submit the return and couldn't log in. We did message them explaining the problem. I still don't understand why we couldn't log in as I've never had a problem before :(.

It could be a glitch in their systems. At least you have emailed them to tell them about it, so IF they do penalise you, you have the evidence that you told them about it, so you can argue the point.

    Have a great day xx

Thanks Jwil :). Yes it is good :). That is if we've claimed for things we're allowed to claim for, this is why we need the accountants :o. It's about £60 but we thought we wouldn't claim it as it can go towards the next VAT bill :).

Thank Purplemum :). We had a message today saying to try logging in today so hopefully they've fixed it.

Excellent news about the VAT :T, hope you manage to submit it and then it's off your mind.

I'm soon to be 52 and have no idea how old I look, but I still feel about 21 years old mentally - not so much physically :rotfl:

Hope school went well and you had another dry play. xx

We managed to submit the VAT return this morning. It was my fault we couldn't because I was telling DH the wrong password last night and this morning I remembered the right one :o. It shows what a night's sleep can do! Anyway at least it's done now :T.

I had a lovely time at work because it was lovely and sunny in the playground with a gentle breeze, so I enjoyed being outside with the children :). Also I was less tired which helped. I remembered to buy some stamps and post the anniversary card on the way home that we forgot to take at the weekend :o.

Since getting back I've been doing some number crunching to make sure we can survive May without the money from the new customer.
We should be fine if I use DH's glasses money and go into our overdraft on the account linked to our mortgage account. It's the only credit we have at the moment because we didn't include it in our list of debts that we gave to Stepchange as we didn't want to mess up our mortgage payments, etc. It's a £600 overdraft and we try not to use it. However if we use the overdraft to cover May's mortgage payment, then that will leave the £1300 that I'd been saving for the VAT bill and DH's glasses.
If we use that £1300 to live on then it will cover the rest of our May fixed expenses with £141 left over. This would be very tight, but luckily we should get £200 from DS2 and £80 from DS1 this month, so that will make it less tight :).

All these shenanigans are because DH invoiced the new customer late . But luckily we can manage without touching our EFs.

The loud bawling outside must signal the return of our noisy next door neighbours .
