Would the school not provide a smaller size tabbard?

    I don't like to ask them :o.

Dont go buying a tabard - pin it smaller (safety pins of course) if you cant be bothered sewing it otherwise ask the school for a smaller one as beanie says?

I would also have a small bag/bumbag or hand bag or even a plastic bag for now - with stuff you might need - sunnies, rain poncho?, hat? Light scarf for windy days? Small water bottle, sweeties for energy host? Etc etc then you just grab that as you go out the door and it's got everything you need and you dont have to remember or think every day?

    Dxx

It's too big to pin. When I say you could fit two of me inside it I mean that literally . I don't think it will be expensive to buy a tabard and if I'm going to wear it for any length of time I'd rather be comfortable. I'll keep it afterwards and it will be useful if I ever take up night time hiking or when the car breaks down :rotfl:.

A bumbag could be a brilliant idea Daisy for on the job. I do have a small rucksack that I keep pre packed with my tabard, spare shoes, travel mug, etc, but I foolishly decided that I wouldn't need my sunglasses today .

  • Thank you DIA :). I think that if I can do this job successfully then it will do wonders for my confidence. Working in isolation with just DH for so many years didn't really do much for my confidence. He always said it was OUR business but it's always felt like I was helping him with HIS business. Not his fault, just the way things were.

Last time I was near a port, (Fleetwood I think) where all people were expected to wear hiviz, on entry it was only £2 to buy one. So look out for where you get a new one from. Some prices are ludicrous!

I went on a ferry to southern Ireland & the transport cafe (on board) was absolutely incredible. Forget all the rubbish about fry ups & booze. Fresh fruit, skimmed milk & if you are looking for a fry up - sit down & eventually we will get round to it before we dock but the healthy stuff we will have done in 2 secs. The menu for car travellers was absolutely rubbish, probably on a par with KFC or McDonalds & they were definitely NOT allowed in the "transport cafe".

It was very interesting from the point of view of perception. We PERCEIVE long distance lorry drivers to be boozers & stuff your face type eaters, but that seems to be really outdated now
  • I will certainly compare prices Badmemory :).

You've just given me a whole new perspective on transport cafes :rotfl:.

Well done on completing your first week at work, woo hoo you've done it :j

I can recommend Sainsburys TU for good quality, good priced jeans - they don't gape at the waist either.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
