I've also gone through our shredding pile (luckily the shredder is broken!) and found some older statements dating back to 2000, 2008 etc.
I'm pleased to report that I have struck gold already :T. I found some old RBS Advanta statements that mention PPI. DH had a CC with them and he paid PPI for at least four years before he cancelled it :T :j :T :j :T .
RBS Advanta don't exist any more so I'm not sure how to claim, but we do have proof that we paid them PPI and as DH has been self employed for 21 years I doubt that it would have paid out anyway .
If we paid PPI to one CC then there's a chance we paid it to more. We've also both had a Debenh@ams card in the past, so may have paid PPI to them for all we know. Plus our old mortgage with the H@alifax.
I've stopped now because I need to do some other stuff this afternoon, plus leaning over dusty files has given me a backache, and I don't want to miss Pilates this evening.
But it's fair to say that I'm feeling slightly hopeful about PPI claims.
Well done on the PPI:T:T:T. As for feeling 'slightly hopefull' I'd be feeling extremely hopeful myself from what you've unearthed so far:j
Can I ask if you were ever on a DMP? If so, do you know if your RBS debt was ever 'sold on' to a DCA. I had an old Mint CC which always showed as RBS Advanta on my correspondence. Once on the DMP it was eventually 'sold on' to Cabot. Throughout the DMP the money was paid to Wescot who administered the account but didn't own it. All correspondence had to be made via Wescot who referred back to RBS/Cabot and I negotiated a good F&F with them. I didn't have PPI though. Not sure how I would have done that. Not a lot of help but might be useful.
EDIT: Just did a quick online search and found this for you. Might be useful. I hope so x

I also had a couple of storecards which I had PPI on, one of which was a big surprise. They used to be administered by GE Money and Santander have taken over responsibility for them and a whole range of storecards. I went on the Santander website where there's a list of all the storecards that they're responsible for. Will look for the link for you.
Have a rest now. You've earned it
EDIT: Found the Santander link and they are responsible for investigating PPI on Debenham's store cards:j
Click on the link (lots of useful info on the landing page) and when you scroll down about half way you'll see the section on Storecards. Click on the + sign (sorry if I'm telling you the obvious:o) and the full list opens up. You may recognise others you think you had. Can't do any harm to ask them;)

Thank you Carboot. We never had enough spare income to be on a DMP and so we did token £1 a month payments for two years before we paid off our debts. I'm not sure what happened to the RBS Advanta debt. Maybe we did a balance transfer onto another card and paid it off. Didn't RBS get bought up by someone else? I'm not sure who we would claim from. I'll have to do some research.
I have another shredding pile to go through, plus a filing cabinet, so I do hope I'll unearth some more statements. DH had his Barclaycard since he was in his early twenties and I had my Barclaycard since I was nineteen, so I'm hopeful we may have paid some PPI at some point on those.
I'm going to work on the PPI some more tomorrow morning.

It looks as if you already were in the process of quoting my post as I was editing it. Check back on my post and you'll see a couple of links I found for you.0 -

Thank you very much for those links Teapot2 and Carboot they'll be really useful :T. It would so fantastic if we could get some money back.
I'm pretty sure we don't have any Debenh@ms statements so I have no idea what our account numbers would have been. But maybe if I write to them they could look it up using our name and address? Anyway I will definitely check it out once I've found as many statements as possible. I'll turn the house upside down if need be.

Well that's the council tax and one £45 payment to NPow3r paid :T. We owe DS1's savings £200
but he doesn't need the money back until we get paid by a customer. And to be fair he's only able to save because he lives at home.
I feel really tired now so I'm having a rest before Pilates. I'll be even more tired when I get back from that, but hopefully I'll sleep well tonight and being busy is a good distraction. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Don't worry if you can't find account numbers for the Debenham's card. I'd completely forgotten I'd ever had a BHS card. it was so long ago. Santander traced one, let me know that it had PPI on it and paid me:j.
Check the Santander link I gave you and you'll find lots of info on what to do. That's all I did to set the ball rolling with mine anyway. The part of the process that took the most time was in discovering that it was Santander who had taken over responsibility for all those cards. It was really only my House of Fraser one that I was checking about initially as I knew I had PPI on that one.0 -

I bet you will sleep well tonight:). You'll definitely deserve to after doing so much useful work on the finances earlier and then Pilates this evening. I know being busy is what you like, especially at the moment, and you're certainly doing that today:T:beer:0 -
