Good luck with the PPI claims. I used resolver for mine and it was easy. It's surprising how much you might get back even if you only paid for a short while."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hi Hairy,
Thought I'd pop in and say hello.
Big hugs regarding your step dad situation and you are probably right to avoid for the moment.
Glad you had a great time at pilates and catching up with your friend.
Enjoy your coffee with DS1.
Good luck with the PPI claims, DH has had two responses so far
Take care xx0 -

You took exactly the right approach at the time with any PPI awarded likely to go towards lowering your debt balance. As I mentioned, that happened to me with one of mine. Not a happy situation:(
I know what you mean about having trust issues with financial institutions, I'm exactly the same although my faith has been restored a lot by Lloyds who refunded several sets of charges and fees without me even having to ask for it:j. Santander though are a different kettle of fish altogether:mad:. They were brilliant with the PPI but not with the bank account I had with them:(. I'm not giving up though;)
I can understand that you're feeling low as life has dealt you some truly cruel blows recently. I genuinely admire the way you're tackling the PPI situation now and the way you're not letting the bad things that have happened in your world get you down.
Thank you Carboot. I wasn't offended and I can see that claiming PPI straight away would seem the obvious solution. It's just that stress can confuse your mind sometimes and make the obvious solution seem an unclimbable mountain

I think OH is glad now that he decided to pay the extra and have someone else do it. If nothing else they'll be a heck of a lot faster than I would have been:rotfl:. Thanks Jwil. I am starting to feel quite hopeful now.

I've sorted out the paperwork for the accountants, as far as I can, so I'm taking a short break with a cup of lucky dip tea
.
I'm looking forward to going through the second shredding pile, I never thought I'd hear myself say that :rotfl: but I want to find more statements for PPI claims. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Sounds like you're on a roll xx0 -
Late again! But I just wanted to say how I emphasise with you over the whole slipper episode. I can only put myself in your place if that had been my dad and mum and I don't think I would have handled the situation as well as you - and don't even go there with my sister! Men can be very unemotional though when it comes to things like this and don't always see things as we (ladies!) do. You are handling everything impeccably though.
Well done on getting to grips with the PPI. I'm taking a page out of your book at the weekend and am going to go through my old paperwork - I've already claimed on a loan with Egg and bank charges from Santander a few years ago but still have some CC records - Who Dares Wins!

Thank you SSG. I tend to be the sort of person who keeps my feelings under wraps, so although I'm very upset I'm behaving to stepdad as if nothing has happened
. It's probably very bad for me to bottle up my feelings, but I don't know how else to handle it, and I don't think having a row with stepdad would help me to feel better
.
Good luck with your PPI claims.
