First bravo on the drying rack. It will make life easier for you
Sorry about the PC. Mine crashed a few months back and I was panicked as I use it for work and other projects.
Good to hear you are beginning to have 'lighter' days.
Like your OH not driving for years sent me back to the beginning so this first year cost me lots. Can't wait to build some no claims (fingers crossed)
Re work, I hope something comes up soon
Thanks DIA.
It does seem unfair that you lose your no claims through not driving. Any excuse to charge more .Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

We used to swap each year who insured my car as OH had a company one, that way we both kept no claims as it is valid for two years.
I think £212 is pretty good, but appreciate anything is a lot at the moment. Hope things pick up soon.My mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Please reinstall universe and reboot+++

I'm sorry Hairy but I'm going to be blunt and you might not like it but I think one of your boys should at least let you use their pc,you do so much for them so it would be a small thing for one of them to do you this favour in return, I hope you don't take offence at me saying this but honestly reading your diary this evening has actually made me cry,I can't believe that in this day and age you are having to sit in your house with your coat on to keep warm,it makes my situation look pathetic and I really don't know how you do it xxxx:(Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8940

Thank you OBL. I don't want to make you cry
. I'm not ill like you so it doesn't hurt me to be a bit cold.
DS2 uses his laptop all day to earn money and DS1 has poor mental health and I don't want to upset him. I don't want them to suffer because we are rubbish with money.
I should have got a job years ago. I lacked confidence and we've had bereavements, but that's just excuses really isn't it? I kept hoping DH's business would do better, and sometimes it does do better and I convince myself that things are okay. But it never lasts.
I need to get a job, I'm finally and totally convinced of that and nothing will make me change my mind. It's like losing my mum has finally made me grow up and face reality. 2019 is the year I'm going to get a job come hell or high water.

I agree that getting a job is a good idea but when times are hard families should pull together, they won't suffer if you borrow a laptop for a couple of hours a day, right that's all I'm going to say about it now as I don't want to upset you ,you seem like such a kind thoughtful person and don't deserve to be struggling like thisOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8940 -
I'm actually really cross and ashamed that DH and I have got into this situation of being so short of money, again
.
We are two adults with no health issues that stop us from earning money. Our kids are grown up so we have no child care problems. Our mistake has been relying on a failing business for 100% of our income. Well I'm not doing that any more.
Like I said earlier I'm getting a job whatever it takes. I have been following a long term plan for the past few years. I've taken and passed my Functional Skills maths Level 2 a year ago, which is the equivalent of GCSE. Now I have nearly a year of volunteering under my belt.
So I've given myself what I lacked in the past to get a job. Now I need to get out there and find one. My plan for a few years has been to get a job, but being self employed for so long and being without a maths qualification was holding me back. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
