Thanks all. I've washed a load of towels and have spread them over both clothes horses so they'll dry much quicker. Normally I'll have five crammed on one and they take days to dry :T. This is going to make my life much easier

My weekly food bill was £58.92 which is within my £60 budget :T. I bought printer paper for £2.75 but that's a business expense.
I had some Mr T vouchers so spent £8 on a whisky gift set for DS2 for Christmas and £2 towards two packs of half price Pringles to eat on Christmas day (that's not all we'll eat on Christmas day obviously :rotfl:). I'm trying to buy an item of half price food for Christmas every week, so I spread the cost and never pay more than 50% :money:.
I feel more cheerful today. I don't know why but I'm going with it.
Sounds like a really good day, HH:j. We're all happy that you're happy:T. Here's to more of the same tomorrow:beer:. Happiness that is, not buying more clothes horses:rotfl:0 -
I'm happy too but for purely selfish reasons:o. OH hadn't realised when he agreed to take my friend and her brother for his GP appointment today that it would mean there would be no connection after his last change of trains this evening because it would be too late. He's having to stay another night and setting off for home tomorrow morning. He still won't be ready for me to pick him up until about 7.30 in the evening though. It's a long journey by train, which OH doesn't mind, but it's the 3 train changes that take the time as they all have a wait of over an hour.
Today didn't go well, lots of problems getting John to the surgery, plus there was about an hour wait for his appointment because the GPs were running really late and he got very stressed in the waiting room and the practice nurse had to be called to calm him down.
OH has been making himself useful during his stay, replacing tap washers (most of the taps in the house were dripping) and rehanging a door after planing it off a bit as it was practically impossible to open because of warping. John has lived alone for the past 8 years and has obviously not been keeping on top of things. OH saw mouse droppings in the dining room but couldn't spot the mouse or it's hiding place:eek:. He saw some small gaps in the walls where mice could be getting in so he filled them up and hopes it's solved the problem. He had to go to B&Q for materials for all the jobs and enjoyed it as it was massive and we don't have one like that anywhere near here. He also got a mousetrap because even if he's stopped any more mice getting in there may be some already inside:eek:. He bought a few bits to do some repairs at home too so maybe we might get some long-standing jobs done at last:j0 -

That's very kind of OH to do all those jobs for John. And I'm glad he got him to his GP. Is the GP going to do anything?

Yes, the GP says DVLA should be informed as John definitely shouldn't drive. Not sure if he's going to do it or wait for the consultant's official diagnosis. He's referred him to a consultant and tried to fast-track the appointment. My friend is going to stay with him for as long as she can, she mentioned to OH that she might move up there permanently. In the meantime she's worried about leaving her own house empty as both her neighbours houses are for sale and currently unoccupied. She has a burglar alarm but no one seems to take the slightest notice when they go off these days do they? OH told her he or I would go round regularly just to keep an eye and spot anything amiss. We can't be there at night though and that's probably when burglars are about. It's not all that convenient in the daytime either, her house is about 10 miles from us but we must help her as she's coping with so much at the moment.
OH likes doing odd jobs, he likes being useful and is really handy when he finally gets round to doing anything;).
I must remember to turn the heating off in plenty of time tomorrow so the house can cool down before OH gets home. He's really looking forward to what he considers a normal temperature again after spending the last 3 days in a sauna:rotfl:0 -
I'm glad that the GP is sorting out John. You'll miss your friend if she moves away. Enjoy the warm house while you can
