I have a quick wash that I use all the time it takes 50 minutes . Bedding , towels and tea towels takes 1hr 30 . That could be the issue especially if your machine is on every day.

I go through phases with surveys, some days great other days I wonder why I bother.

  • Fab news about the payment. That might explain the extra electricity if your washing machine is doubling in time.

I accidentally put a load on a 95 degree wash today. My wool jumper now fits my little ones dolls.

I do pinecone but i don't get surveys very often with them. x

  • Yes I do think the three hour wash must have been using a lot of electricity. I'm never using that again .

What lovely messages of support for you over your Mum's birthday! Another idea, that costs little but means a lot, is to support a cause she believed in - a small donation, a pack of charity Christmas cards in their name, or a signature on a petition. My Mum had quite a number of favourite causes so for me it's easy to do this but it depends on the character of the person you are remembering.

Work-wise, might it be worth considering one to one support work with a disabled child? (Or adult). Lots of people have taken the opportunity to control their own funding and sometimes these jobs come up.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow, and sending hugs.

Oh, and talking of washing machines, we usually use the short wash but about once or twice a week there's a hot wash for towels, sheets, white shirts etc. (It's a big machine). We had run it this way for 4 or 5 years before DS and his wife came to live with us and showed us it has an economy version of the hot wash that takes less than half the time!

Thank you Cherry. Some good ideas there.

I wouldn't have thought of one to one with a disabled child but would certainly consider it. Where would that type of job be advertised?

I'm assuming that as you work in a school that you are criminal record checked. What about babysitting? Maybe advertise or look on gumtree local to you. I can remember when mine were small being so pushed to get them minded while I played at shopping with Santa.

  • I do PopulusLive surveys. They are usually £1 for 5 minutes, £2 for ten minutes and £3 for 15 minute surveys. You have to wait for the emails like YouGov but they hardly ever screen you out. Payout is cheque at £50.

I do PopulusLive too and am now just £3 away from a £50 cheque:j. I've had a few payouts from them over the years but it takes ages to accrue enough points as, unlike you, I get screened out lots of times after wading through all those boring preliminary question screens:mad:. The cheque takes weeks to arrive too, then has to clear when paid in. As you can tell, apart from the extra money aspect, I'm not a major fan.
  • The jobs would be advertised on the council website. They have a vacancy section and school jobs would be advertised there.

If an individual decides to control their own spending, they could advertise it anywhere really. x
