  • Thinking of you today. It will be/have been a difficult day I know. I speak from experience. Dad would have celebrated his 85th birthday on 28 July. We “celebrated” our 25th wedding anniversary. You see we gatecrashed Dad’s 60th and it all seemed a good plan back then. It’s okay though. DH and I enjoyed a quite dinner out and reminisced.

I do hope you got something out of today.

Thank you Cherry. Some good ideas there.

I wouldn't have thought of one to one with a disabled child but would certainly consider it. Where would that type of job be advertised?

I've seen the adverts and of course I can't now remember where, but I found this with several jobs and also this which is about the person spec for supporting a disabled child in school.

Jobs in the community tend to have unsocial hours, perhaps something like helping before and after school, or weekends, but for that reason there's less competition for them. There will also be similar jobs with young adults who need one to one support by reason of a disability.

I googled 'Personal Assistant child with special needs'.

I hope today hasn't been too hard on you... it sounds as though family members have been able to be there for each other.

I thought of you a lot yesterday, HH, and hope the day didn't take too much out of you:kisses3:. I know you'd been dreading it so I hope being with family who were all feeling the significance of the day made it a bit more bearable for all of you.

There will be lots of 'first time' anniversaries to get through this next few months but you're more fortunate than many in having a close and loving family to help sustain you through the worst of it.

    Take care of yourself:)
  • But then I read somewhere that a quick wash doesn't clean the clothes properly, so since then I've been using the full three hour wash. .

I read the same article but I think they were meaning the very quick washes like 15 - 30 mins. My machine has a 15 min quick wash which I use for my work tops and trousers as I dont have a manual job and they dont really get dirty.

My normal wash is 52 mins (very precise!!)

I do agree that washing all clothes for only 15-30 mins wouldnt get them 100% clean but maybe they should have explained that in the article as there are so many variations of washing machines about.

Sorry to go on but I still think you should call Npower and discuss your payments with them, even if you are still behind on the payments its better to speak to them as early as possible and they can sort the arrangement for you.

Not sure how much you owe Npower but I think you should apply for their Energy Trust to get help to clear your debt - https://www.npowerenergyfund.com/
If you need any help give me a shout. I advised Wannabe last year to apply to her providers fund and they cleared over £2000 for her.
  • Thinking of you today HH x

I'm still catching up but do you mean you have a debt with the energy company? If so I really recommend looking into their trust fund (Mine was a different provider but I'm sure there is one that covers it) I thought I had ZERO chance of getting help from them and it was only after posting on here I thought I'll apply and the worst that can happen is they say no. However they cleared my debt (it was a huge amount) and also got me a cooker as mine was broken.

Another thing washing .. I don't think one load a day is excessive. I do at least 3 loads a day more than likely 4 or 5 if I'm honest. I do only use the quick wash for clothes/uniform and its only 28 minutes and it cleans them fine!

I'm still catching up so no doubt I'll be back :o

    x

    Thank you Wannabe.

Thank you EE. I'll definitely ring NPow3r and ask them about that. Our very quick wash is 30 minutes but its only for silk and doesn't spin things properly . Our normal was is 3 hours  but there is a time saving button you can press which reduces the time by half. I think our washing machine is a bit rubbish.
