Lovely to hear all your news, HH:T. Sounds as if DS3 will be fine. His room sounds lovely. It's usually the prospect of something unknown that is much worse than the reality.
I expect with so many flatmates, a lot of them girls who might be a bit more domesticated, (apologies if that's a sexist remark, I'm of a much older generation when girls generally were, even the 'brainy' ones;)) he might not have much need for all the cleaning materials that you stocked him up with:rotfl:. If they all get on well there's usually a lot of helping each other out and sharing of stuff.
It was certainly a long drive for you even when the weather and roads were OK so I'm not surprised DH was hungry. Sounds like he earned his burger:beer:0 -
Blimey sounds like a journey and a half no wonder you're shattered! Still got all this to come in a few years time but dreading it! Hope the handbsg and contents dry out ok!
Thanks Dora, it's certainly very time consuming and expensive, and then you come home to a quiet house. But we are very proud of him for going.

Thanks Carboot. The uni will probably do room/flat inspections every term, so DS3 will have to keep his own room and his shower room clean. Not sure how he'll get on as he's very messy at home! The overall condition of the flat probably will be cleaner as it's mainly girls, but I'm sure they will expect DS3 to clean up after himself in the kitchen. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I spent some time this afternoon tidying DS3's room which is a right pigsty. Yesterday I foraged for plates, mugs and cutlery.
Today I emptied his bin and picked up all the rubbish off his floor which filled a black bin liner. I also picked up all the coins from his floor which filled a jam jar! Then I picked up most of the other bits off his floor and swept it with the broom.
He has a laminate floor luckily as it's filthy and needs going over with the antibac wipes, as do all the surfaces in his room. Then I want to wash his net curtain and curtain as they're both filthy, and hope they don't shrink. Then I can clean his window and windowsill. I also want to strip his bed and put clean bedding on it.
He wouldn't let me in his room to clean for the past few years and was too lazy to clean it himself. I don't like a room in my house being that filthy, so I want to get it all nice and clean before he comes home for Christmas. It may take until Christmas .Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I don't think I've been very firm over that type of thing

I think you're right. But even he won't be able to get it that messy in just four weeks holiday, it's taken years of effort .

Thanks Nicnak. I'm going to do one corner at a time probably, although it's only a box room with a study bunk and you can't swing a cat in there! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Glad DS3 settled in OK. He'll be back before you know it with washing and to look in your fridge/cupboards. My DS still looks in our fridge and he's been left home 10 years!
Hope the customer pays up soon - annoying for you when they've had their goods/servicesI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
