  • The game of poker Elizabeth :). I'm going to get it weighed at the post office on Monday and see how much it costs to post. If it's too expensive if might be cheaper for him to buy a new set.

His loan has arrived so he can buy his own things from now on :).

Check the courier services, HH. I send heavy parcels that way, such as heavy items I've sold on eBay and boxes of books I sell to WeBuyBooks etc. With the books though the buying company pays the postage. but it works the same way basically. Usually works out cheaper than by Royal Mail. It's a tracked service, the 48 hour one is excellent. Various couriers have this service and you have the option of dropping the parcel off at a collection point, often a local shop/petrol station etc or if it's more convenient the courier will pick it up from you at an arranged day/time. All you have to do is register, weigh the package , pay online (the site works out the cost based on the weight you submit on the form) and it generates a label. Print it out, stick that on the package and away you go. You don't need special labels to print on, I just use normal A4 printer paper, cut the print-out to size and stick it on my box. Some courier services have an introductory offer for new customers.

Sorry if I'm telling you what you already know:o but I know lots of people who have things delivered by courier but have never used their services for sending stuff.

If you don't intend to send it off until Monday I'll see if I can do a bit of checking online and send you some links etc. Or someone else might.
  • Enjoy your day today x

Thank you Carboot I've never used a courier before, so your expertise would be very useful :).

Do you use couriers too, Beanie? Which one would you recommend?

I dont use coriers myself as such but have had quite a few things I have bought from ebay some by Hermes & it always seems to work well with speedy delivery.

I had a very strange bus ride this morning. This is what happened:

A man with one arm, a double pushchair and a earlobe stretcher ring was on the bus. An elderly woman with long grey uncombed hair and who spoke in a gravelly whisper, was talking to the toddlers. Then a woman with a large rucksack accompanying a woman with downs syndrome, got on the bus. Double pushchair man couldn't get off. Woman with rucksack spent ages persuading downs syndrome woman to get off the bus again. Double pushchair man was finally able to get off bus. Then rucksack woman and downs syndrome woman got on again. Rucksack woman spent ages finding a seat that downs syndrome woman was happy to sit on, and told the bus driver to stop the bus, because he'd driven off before downs syndrome woman sat down! They all finally sat down. Then rucksack woman dropped a load of coins which rolled everywhere, and various passengers were picking them up and handing them back to her.

At this point it had turned into farcical comedy! The passengers on the bus were muttering a bit at being delayed initially, but by the end most people saw the funny side :).
