    Morning Hairy,

I think it's good to have a reassess of things and if DH's business isn't what you have your heart in, then I think it'd be good to do something else.

    I agree, Purplemumof2:T

Lovely to see you looking forward, HH. Loss of a loved on often gives us the impetus to re-evaluate our own lives. I know grief and loss are overwhelming you at the moment but your Mum would have wanted you to live a fulfilling life. Doing something that you're enthusiastic about is a very good way forward. Making plans is a good form of therapy IMO:beer:

As your heart was never in the family business, although I'm sure you put all your effort into it, it sounds a good idea to start an enterprise of your own especially as it shouldn't take too much setting up and DH can cope without you. I'm sure if he ever was overstretched with work or unwell you'd be only too happy to step in and lend him a hand. As you're prepared to do the tax stuff for him as usual it sounds a win-win situation. Good luck:beer:
  • Thanks @Purplemum and @carboot

  • Thanks Beanie.

Well so far today I have accomplished:

Two loads of laundry with a third lot waiting to go on (mostly DS3's clothes)
    Packed some of my things
Ironed four tops and one pair of trousers
    Put the dishwasher on
Walked to the shop to buy sawdust
    Cleaned out the furry moron

I still need to pack some more of my stuff once I've showered and cleaned my teeth, check DS3 has packed all of his stuff, remind DH to arrange DS3's contents insurance and write DS3 a letter (advice, things to remember, etc).

Sorry I should also have said that we did Skype him regularly, he was happy with that as he only had to tidy up the small area that we could see behind him :rotfl:

Also, my wife was just as emotional as you about her only son leaving home and going to Uni so what you're feeling is perfectly normal - especially having lost your mum too.

Totally agree. I admit I was in pieces when my eldest went off to University. We were wandering round the supermarket stocking up for food for the cottage we were renting near the University just in case she needed us (she didn't) and my OH was most puzzled I dissolved into tears when he said we now only needed to buy food for three of us (including DD2) instead of four. On the other hand my DD2 was most put out I did not cry when she went off to uni :rotfl::rotfl:.

You get used to not having them around and after a while you notice there is less mess, cheaper to do a food shop and food stays in the cupboards. The terms seem to go by so quickly and they are home for ages in the summer. Understandable you are feeling fragile though after losing your mum too.

  • Thanks ES I am definitely feeling fragile at the moment due to losing my mum, so I'm definitely not coping as well as I would normally, although it would always be a difficult time anyway.
