  • Well done on all those steps, I find it so hard to get motivated and go for a walk when the weather is wet and cold.
  • The hardest thing is getting myself out of the front door. As soon as I leave I feel great and really enjoy the walk. I always have some upbeat music on my headphones and that makes me feel pumped and ready to go. I love seeing all the different seasons in the park and spotting birds and squirrels :).

I make sure I have a raincoat and waterproof trainers and then the weather doesn't really bother me, in fact the wilder the better sometimes :).

It sounds like you have the best of all worlds for your walks, HH. No wonder you enjoy them:T

People think living very rurally must be a wonderful opportunity for walks but not always so I'm afraid:(. For me I have to first walk about half a mile down a very narrow single track lane with nowhere to jump to when the frequent farm vehicles come racing through. The hedges and banks are very high and the lane twisty so it's hard to see what's coming unless it is really revving when I can hear it. After that there are several footpaths off it but many are very narrow and with overhanging thorny bushes etc, plus they are often very muddy and difficult underfoot in the winter. The local farmers won't tolerate people just crossing their fields even when sticking to the very edges. Going for a brisk walk straight from my door is a non starter most of the time. The best bet is to get the car out and drive to my nearest small town (7 miles away) and walk there. The effort, time and money of doing that dampens my enthusiasm:o. Regular daily exercise straight from home is very hard to do. Excuses, excuses eh?:rotfl:

It's bin day here and I've just been out to fetch the wheely bin in . Nearly blown off my feet by an icy gale:eek:. A day for staying indoors I think;)
  • Have a lovely day Hairy.

Well done on the walk and hope the office brightens up a bit :) xx

What a shame you can't go for a lovely walk straight from your front door. Farmers often aren't fans of walkers, are they . I bet you have lovely country views though :).

Although I live in a built up area, I am lucky enough to have a lovely park at the bottom of my road so I have no excuse :j.

Thanks Purplemum. The weather is weirdly changeable at the moment going from gloomy to bright, so we have to keep turning the light on and off :rotfl:.

I must have misunderstood, I always assumed you lived somewhere on the edge of Dartmoor and could just stride off into beautiful moorland:o. I felt sure you mentioned your DH taking one of your sons there to take some photos recently. I imagined it was very local to you.
  • Dartmoor is about a ten minute drive away from us Carboot, but not really within walking distance.

  • I love Dartmoor, haven't been there for years, last time we were that way both kids were little.
  • It is a beautiful place, I'm very lucky to have it just down the road :)
