milann said:Your crocheted badges sound lovely. It made me remember that I’d seen a pattern for a crocheted Christmas wreath last year and I said I’d have a go at making it.....bit late now for this year and I haven’t a clue where I’d seen it.....might go and investigate 🎄👍
I'm surprised, HH, that primary schoolchildren are allowed to wear earrings. They weren't when my children were that age. not that anybody wanted them till they were older.4 -
That’s what I was thinking EH I’ve just been looking at free patterns on line 👍
At our school children can wear earrings but have to take them out or tape them up for PE and swimming. I think most of the girls and some of the boys have them.January spends - £587.586 -
Thanks everyone

The school applied for funding for the tricky boy so he could have one to one support, but it was refused can you believe 😡.
Children aren't allowed to wear earrings but parents still send them in with pierced ears, so when they are newly pierced they have to wear tape over them until they can take the earrings out 😳.
I can't believe what a stressful day I've had 😩. The tricky boy was away in the morning, but I was helping the teacher with the class Christmas performance which she was trying to record. The class is full of children that can't stand still, can't stop talking and can't stop poking each other, so it was very stressful. Also a boy had an accident so I had to mop wee off the floor 😣.
Then lunchtime was hectic as it was Christmas lunch day and the TAs and teachers come up to 'help', although it was a case of too many cooks really and the children were super excited and noisy. We didn't get offered a free pudding this year, not that we'd have had time to eat one anyway.
Then after lunch the tricky boy got back. I did a bit of work with him and then he started pretending to be asleep 😖. I thought this was a new tactic and the headteacher happened to be passing so she offered to deal with the situation. The next thing I knew I was being called out of the class as he'd been sick all over himself and the corridor 🤮🤢 , so I had to run for a sick bowl and clean clothes. Then it was more Christmas performance 😬. The teacher was having technical difficulties with the laptop and disappeared, so I was left alone in the hall with the tricky boy and the class from hell for TEN MINUTES 😳😳. They were bored, restless and getting boisterous, and I didn't have a book with me and couldn't leave them alone to fetch one 🙈. So I ended up playing head, shoulders, knees and toes with them to keep them occupied, while the tricky boy hurled beanbags around and banged his shoes on the floor (which he'd taken off) 😱. It was the longest ten minutes of my life 😱. Anyway the performance was finally recorded to much relief all around. Then the tricky boy's parent arrived to fetch him home, so I had to collect him, his belongings and his shoes and socks (which he'd abandoned in the corridor) and take him out to the gate. You couldn't make it up 🙄🤣 .
I was so glad to come home today. On days like this I don't feel like I get paid enough 😭🤣. I'm so thankful I'm in the nice class tomorrow 👏. Roll on the weekend.
On a more positive note the children loved my crocheted snowman badge ⛄and my holly face mask 🎅, so I got lots of compliments from children about them during the day 😁 .

Thanks Sunshine 🙂. I found out today that the tricky boy did a protest poo in his pants at the end of the day on Wednesday 🤢 and the TA had to clean him up as he was going to after school club 🤢😳. I'm so thankful I don't work on Wednesday afternoons 😏.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Oh HHoD, you deserve a medal after a day like that..... & thank goodness you didn't have a 'protest poo' to deal with, as well as mopping wee & sick!
On the brighter side, it's lovely that the children appreciated your efforts to look Christmassy.
I feel sorry for that boy with the behavioural problems too. There are obviously some big problems there & life must feel very confusing & frustrating for him. I think it's also hard for these kids to make friends because other children are often wary of them.
