I enjoyed a leisurely morning yesterday and then did my lunchtime job and my afternoon in the new class. It's quite busy in that class as there's an autistic boy and another boy who is quite disruptive and who has to be supervised in the toilets 😳 (don't ask!). I felt like it went well though. Today was my full day. I was on playgournd duty at morning break so only had a fifteen minute break all day 😲! But despite a hectic day I'm enjoying working in the new class, although I'm still getting to grips with names.
The husband of the TA I'm covering for has tested positive for the virus 😱 so she has to quarantine for fourteen days, so they've asked me if I can cover two extra sessions next week. I said yes of course. It means I'll be doing five full days of TA cover and my lunchtime job next week. I asked if someone could do my playground duties for morning break as I'm not sure I could cope otherwise. It's more money though so that's all to the good 😁😁😁. I don't know what will happen if the TA gets symptoms and is positive 🤔, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!
It's been another lovely warm and sunny day so it was lovely out in the playground and I needed my sunglasses on 😎. It should be good weather tomorrow too 🌞.
I feel very lucky that where I live is still in tier one at the moment with minimal restrictions. I feel sorry for those in tiers two and three. It's quite a worrying situation going into the winter with this virus, but I think I need to take one day at a time as it doesn't pay to look too far into the future.
I hope everyone is having as good a Thursday as they possibly can 🙂.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Good news about the extra TA cover, HHoD. They are lucky to have you.
Yes, it is a worrying situation going forward. A lot of it defies logic. Our local city has the highest Covid rates in the country yet was only given a 'Level 2' restriction. I agree that there is so little we can do (except to do our utmost to stay as safe as possible) that taking things a day at a time is the only sane way forward.

I've had such an tiring day that I feel like a limp rag! My new class are so boisterous that the teacher and I spend a lot of time getting them to behave nicely, not run in the corridor, not push each other in the cloakroom, not shout out in the classroom, etc, and it's quite exhausting. I worked with the autistic boy most of the day and he's a nice boy, but can be disruptive and throw equipment around or punch other children; he's also lost his £75 glasses and told us he'd put them down the toilet 😱. Also several children were arriving late or leaving early for various reaons and I had extra trips to keep collecting them from the gate or take them out to the gate with their belongings. I don't know how I'm going to cope next week when I do five full days of TA cover plus my lunchtime job 😳.
I'm so thankful it's the weekend. I'm planning to rest and the only chores I'm going to do are to wash and iron my work clothes. I'm just too exhausted to do anything else. If I don't build up my strength I'll have a physical and mental breakdown next week. I'm so tired now that I'm having trouble relaxing. No wonder so many school staff hit the booze when they get home from school 🍷🍸🍹🍺🍻🥂🍾 . Still at least it didn't rain and I'll keep thinking of the extra money I'm going to be earning 💷💷💷💷💱💱💱🙂.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Oh dear, HHoD, that sounds like a really tiring day. Yes, you definitely need a restful weekend with some nutritious food & plenty of hydration, so you feel as ready as possible for your extra shifts next week. Thinking of the extra money will help to keep you going, as you know how useful it will be. When I was working, there were some difficult times that I won't go into here, & I just used to tell myself 'Just do your job & keep taking the money' & it certainly helped! Every time somebody puts their specs or their shoes down the bog, or throws a punch in the corridor, you need to take a few seconds to visualise those extra £££s coming into your bank account. Oh & make sure you rest in the evenings, too of course....no spending them all on housework,
Good luck with it!
