I was 56 when I got my current job and 47 the job previously - I was more relaxed in the interviews than I was when I was younger. The last 2 LSA staff have been in their 40s and 50s too. Don’t let age get in your way - it has a lot of advantages :beer:January spends - £587.580

Only saying nice things about people behind their backs it's a good rule to try to live by, I work with mostly nice people but there is one person who is only interested in gossip and stirring things up between people so I try to change the subject if I'm working with herOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8940

You deserve it and there's no point trying to cram housework and home-based tasks into every single minute of your weekends. Otherwise it's easy to feel just as tired when the new working week starts as you did when the previous one ended:eek:
I know quite a lot about your reading tastes and I share a lot of them, although not really the historical fiction. I was sad to hear last night that Mary Higgins Clark had just died aged 92 I think she was. I came to her books very late, mainly through picking something at random from the mobile library, and really enjoyed them as not too heavy escapist reading:j. I was delighted to see she was very prolific so there are lots more to read when I see them in the library or a charity shop:j.
Thanks FS. I like Mary Higgins Clarke, she is certainly good for escapist reading, as is Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, etc. I do like a bit of scandi crime noir too for something a bit more realistic, for example Henning Mankell and Camilla Lackberg.

I think one of the good things about some of our interview experiences is that it can give you a good idea of who you definitely DON'T want to work for. I think DS1s thoughts are spot on. Really based on the saying that if you can't say anything nice then say nothing at all. Hope someone else is cooking tea today!
Thanks Badmemory. There are definitely some very odd interviews that people have experienced .
I think it would be a really good exercise to try and think of nice things to say even about people you don't like, as it might help you to see their good points and like them a bit better. After all, nobody is all bad (I hope ).Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Thanks Milann. Hopefully this is one job where my age won't go against me.

I agree, people who stir things up are annoying and are probably very insecure.

It's best not to overthink or you'll drive yourself mad. I try not to think too much and just get on with things, taking each day as it comes. I know it's easier said than done.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

I didn't sleep very well last night as I kept thinking about stepdad selling his and Mum's house and losing all those precious memories (he's had lots of viewings and three offers
). So I felt tired when I got up.
However despite feeling tired I think the day went quite well. I knew that once I got to school I wouldn't have time to think about anything except school as we're kept extremely busy. In fact there's usually not enough time to do all the things that we need to do.
Lunchtime was partially wet which is typical for a Monday  but I'm resigned to it now. I thought of a game where the children sit in a circle and have to think of a creature that starts with the same letter of their name. I had forgotten that we have four children in the class whose names start with 'I' so by the time we'd had iguana, ibis and impala, we were really struggling and had to go with Indian elephant which felt like cheating :rotfl:. I had to laugh when a boy whose name started with 'S' said he was a slug :rotfl:.
The afternoon whizzed by and I stayed late to help a teaching student put up a wall display in the classroom. She went to school with DS1 and was in the same year group as him, which makes me feel old.
I still have my cold and am getting through my own weight in tissues blowing my nose. Half the children are in the same sorry condition. So I decided not to go to Pilates (again) because of my cold and getting home late.
I felt more on top of things today, partly because I've had a rest at the weekend and partly because my cold is improving perhaps. I feel really confident doing my lunchtime job as I've been doing it for nearly a year, so if I could just do this TA stuff for a year then hopefully I would feel as confident doing that. At the moment I'm still juggling lots of balls and trying not to drop them. But I'm learning so much and I do enjoy the work
.
No money was spent by me today as I took my lunch with me and a coke to drink on the way home :A. We spent a lot yesterday but that was paying bills. I hope DH brings some money in soon as we're getting through my wages paying bills as there seem to be a lot at the beginning of the month.
I hope everyone is having a good Monday.

. I've always been an overthinker although I'm much better than I used to be. Overanalysing things is often a bad thing I think so I do try not to do it. I've also got to try and stop being a perfectionist at work as time and resources don't allow for it.
