Morning HHD
Excellent news on the tax rebate, even if it does go towards paying the VAT bill. Fingers crossed there'll be some left over for a nice treat for you. xx

I'm still a bit confused (doesn't take much:o) about your VAT situation. I recall your mentioning that your DH's business is always below the threshold for paying it and you were going to opt out. If you always get the amount you paid back why bother with it in the first place? It only takes valuable time and admin. I know things will have eased financially for you this month with your pay:j but when it was a case of your being really worried about the other bills, putting the heating on, food etc just to pay the VAT bill which would be reimbursed at a later date anyway it doesn't seem logical to me.
I think you mentioned it was so people DH was doing work for thought his business was bigger/more successful than it currently is when they saw he was VAT registered. I doubt anyone is fooled by that to be honest. Most of the people/companies he does work for will know he is a sole operator although I know lots of sole operators also make megabucks so I'm not really putting a valid case am I?:rotfl:. It's just that I can't really understand why anyone would want to make extra and unnecessary work for themselves.
Anyway, just a thought. Please tell me to mind my own business;)0 -
