Fingers crossed for his tummy. I always get Christmas cards half price. I think I have done it for about 10 years now!

Thanks Nicnak :). I would hate to pay full price for Christmas cards .
Glad to read you're feeling better HHOD. Hope DH is feeling better soon.

Happy New Year to you guys xx

Thanks MTG :). Nice to hear from you :).

Glad you're feeling better but sorry to hear DH has now come down with it. Doctors say follow the BRAT diet for tummy bugs - bananas, rice, apples, toast. Personally I wouldn't fancy fruit with a dodgy tummy, I always want soup. You just have to go with what you fancy, your body knows what it wants.

Hope you can take that cross off the door soon.

Thanks SA :). Yes there are only certain foods that appeal to you with a dodgy tummy. It varies from person to person I guess.

  • It must have been good for you to get out as I know you get stir-crazy !
Your food choices sound eminently sensible for tender tummies. Good news - if it IS Norovirus, you are now safe from it for 6 mths !!!

I remember on the odd occasion I was ill as a child, like when I had measles, my mother did me little honey crustless sandwiches. She also let me sleep in one of her overalls, which smelt comforting.

Oh and brilliant about the half-price cards.

Thanks Elizabeth :). Will I be immune to norovirus for six months? That sounds good.

Mum's always have nice things they do for their ill children, my Mum used to buy me grapes and a hyacinth in a pot because I liked the smell.

Happy Hew Year, glad you are feeling better and managed a trip out today, hope your DH feels better soon xx

    Thanks Penny :).

  • DH slept much better last night, which meant that I did too :). He seems much better than he was yesterday, although still far from well. I feel really tired though so I''m hoping I didn't overdo it yesterday :(. I was planning a short walk in the park today but I feel too tired to go so I'm going to stay at home. I hope I'm not coming down with a cold because that would be just unbelievable :(.

I've put some clothes on to wash as I'm very behind with the washing, put the dishwasher on and I'd like to start taking down some of the easier to reach Christmas decorations. But I'm not going to do very much as I don't want a relapse.

Our Mr T order has arrived so we're well stocked up with food. I don't want to spend a penny more on food for a week now.

We could do with a few NSDs after all the expense of Christmas. The invalid food we've been buying is more expensive than what we normally eat and I've bought some clothes in the sales that perhaps weren't strictly needed but gave me a lot of pleasure. DH bought some clothes in the sales that he desperately did need. So it's time to stop spending and be frugal again. I paid in two cheques yesterday totalling £45. DS1 will give us his keep on Wednesday and we can ask DS2 for his keep now a new month has begun. It's ages until I get paid so we'll need to rely upon DH's earnings apart from that.

It's a beautiful sunny day so I wish I felt up to a walk in the park, but never mind.

I hope everyone is having a good Friday :).

Glad DH is starting to pick up a bit. The weather was glorious today, I too was gutted not to be able to go out in it.

Thanks SA :). We are fellow sufferers at the moment :(. Have you thought about hiring yourself a scooter for a month so you can get out and about a bit more?

Thanks Nicnak :). I don't want to relapse and I may have walked too far around town yesterday. Hopefully I'll feel more energetic tomorrow.

Hi Hairy - pleased to read that you're all on the mend. What a rotten time you've both had.:(

Re: the discussion on what our mums gave us when we were poorly as children, I loved Lucozade when I was small and my mum only bought it when I was ill because it was so expensive (as it was marketed as an invalid tonic). It was the only plus point to being ill in my eyes!:D

I loved lucozade when I was wee :)
When I was in hospital I used to go to the canteen every day & have red cola.
It was really near my ward & I was allowed to go on my own & I felt very very grown up. I was allowed to go from about age 6.
