Hi Hairy - pleased to read that you're all on the mend. What a rotten time you've both had.:(

Re: the discussion on what our mums gave us when we were poorly as children, I loved Lucozade when I was small and my mum only bought it when I was ill because it was so expensive (as it was marketed as an invalid tonic). It was the only plus point to being ill in my eyes!:D

Thanks SSG :). Sadly it hasn't been our best holiday :(.

I think grapes were quite expensive (still are) and I don't remember having them very often so they were a treat when I was ill :).

Thanks Nicnak :). I'll try to.

When I was in hospital I used to go to the canteen every day & have red cola.
It was really near my ward & I was allowed to go on my own & I felt very very grown up. I was allowed to go from about age 6.

Red cola? Is that different than normal cola? That was a nice treat for you :). Things were different back then weren't they? Children had more freedom. Imagine a six year old being allowed to wander around hospital alone now .

The children's ward I work on is locked and you have to be buzzed in via an intercom to get in, how times change

Make sure you take it easy Hairy,I got a cold straight after I had the tummy bug and I think it was partly because I didn't have a chance to take it easy

Thanks OBL :). That would be hell on earth if I caught a cold straight after this tummy bug . I had a bad cold for two weeks, then the tummy bug literally straight after :(. If I catch a cold now I may as well give up work and become a professional invalid :(.

  • I slept well and so did DH. DH still feels pretty rough but it's only the fourth day of his illness. I'm on day eight of mine and I still don't feel right. My head feels tight, I feel slightly nauseous, have a funny taste in my mouth and feel very tired. I'm not looking forward to going back to school on Monday feeling like this :(.

I'm going to stepdad's house on the bus on my own this evening and he's going to give me a lift home. It's to see some other relatives that are visiting. I'm going because I'm fed up with being at home and I didn't want to miss yet another family get together. I hope I'm not going to overdo it though and I don't know how much I'll be able to eat. DS1 doesn't want to come so he's going to stay and look after DH.

DS3 roasted a whole chicken last night so that provided dinner for everyone but me :). I just had scrambled egg and cheese on toast as I wasn't that hungry. DH was able to eat a small piece of chicken which made a change from grapes and soup.

I need to have a shower and wash my hair before I go out. You can tell you're not well when just the thought of having a shower is tiring :(.

I hope everyone is having a good Saturday and feels more energetic than I do :).

It was cola that was red in colour & tasted amazing.
To be fair it was a second home, school, brownies ect.

Sorry to hear you still feel rough :(

It was always dandelion and burdock for me when I was a kid and unwell. Not sure if you can still get it?

Mr SA now has the lurgy, full of cold plus feeling sick. The bugs are out in full force :(
