I often find a banana is palatable when we feel ill. They're nutritious too, all the top tennis players seem to eat them at changeovers;)
I hope you'll be feeling 100% soon and that your sons don't catch whatever it was.. One of the DSs would have done the food shopping if I'd asked them to, but I was desperate to get out of the house. I'm definitely on the mend and get despondant if I'm cooped up in the house. I was also keen to get my half price Christmas cards before they all sold out. DS1 did an excellent job of looking after DH while I was out so I didn't have to worry about him.
I did buy some bananas today as I eat one every day, so DH may want to try one when he's a bit better. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I'm feeling very pleased with myself because I've been into town on the bus and got all my Christmas cards for next year at half price
. I also picked up two parcels with sale items I'd bought online (I always get them delivered to the shop as it's free). Then I bought jelly, Ye0 natural yoghurt, soup, grapes, bananas, milk, bread, etc, to tide us over until our online food delivery comes tomorrow. I sat down frequently (shoe departments are good for this
) and stopped for coffee. I risked ordering a latte and my tummy felt fine after drinking it :T.
I really enjoyed getting out of the house and it's made me feel much more cheerful. Sorry I spent all of yesterday moaning
.

DH's tummy has stopped cramping so he can rest more now, although he's still shivery and hasn't risked eating anything apart from one jelly. I really hope we both get a better night's sleep tonight as it will do us both good. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Oh dear, HHoD, it definitely sounds as though a bug (maybe the dreaded Noro?) has passed through your house. Agree bland digestible foods required for recovery period. I used to find that cartons of chilled smoothies were helpful too, but only in small cupfuls to begin with. Otherwise, yep! Dry toast, rich tea biscuits & bananas. Hope the bug is now well & truly on its way.

Thanks Foxgloves
. I feel as though we need a big cross on our front door like they did during the black death :rotfl: . We're definitely a house of sickness at the moment

DH is eating a small portion of natural yoghurt and grapes, so fingers crossed that it helps rather than hinders his tummy. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Fingers crossed for his tummy. I always get Christmas cards half price. I think I have done it for about 10 years now!
xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x0 -
Glad to read you're feeling better HHOD. Hope DH is feeling better soon.
Happy New Year to you guys xxMummytogirls x0 -
Glad you're feeling better but sorry to hear DH has now come down with it. Doctors say follow the BRAT diet for tummy bugs - bananas, rice, apples, toast. Personally I wouldn't fancy fruit with a dodgy tummy, I always want soup. You just have to go with what you fancy, your body knows what it wants.
Hope you can take that cross off the door soon.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

It must have been good for you to get out as I know you get stir-crazy !
Your food choices sound eminently sensible for tender tummies. Good news - if it IS Norovirus, you are now safe from it for 6 mths !!!
I remember on the odd occasion I was ill as a child, like when I had measles, my mother did me little honey crustless sandwiches. She also let me sleep in one of her overalls, which smelt comforting.
Oh and brilliant about the half-price cards.0 -
Happy Hew Year, glad you are feeling better and managed a trip out today, hope your DH feels better soon xx0
