  • A relative of mine is a stick thin 1970s cranks healthy eating monster who hasn't eaten anything fun in the last 40 plus years. She has high cholesterol and diabetes. Healthy eating and intelligent eating held it off till her 70s which is impressive given that she was diagnosed as pre-diabetic in her late 30s. My point is that its genetics, not sugar so don't fret.

Thank you Redo :). Hopefully it's nothing to worry about. It's just that I'm the last person who I thought would have high blood sugar and DH and my sister are as amazed as I am.

I wonder if stress could be a factor. It could explain my tiredness perhaps. I've lost a stone and a half since my Mum died and I know I'm not overweight.

  • Couldn't agree more about with what redo says. My very slim friend is a type 2 diabetic , nobody was more shocked than her. Am sure you can sort it out before it gets further .

Can understand why you didn't feel like posting yesterday, another sad anniversary :(

Strange about the pre-diabetic status, especially as you're so careful. Could it be the artificial sweetener in the Diet Coke? One of my friends recently had a heart attack despite doing lots of really intense exercise, not smoking or drinking and not being overweight. It seems so unfair. Anyway I hope it gets sorted.

Hope you have a good weekend :)

    Yes it's never a good day :(.

I am very puzzled about it. I could ask the doctor about the diet coke.

Its genetics. I can 100% guarantee that my relative has not knowingly eaten anything artificial in that 40 years. She is 10 a day for veg, never mind 5, and eats very little fruit or meat or beige. Mostly organic and grow your own 'clean eating' long before it was a thing as they retired early to a smallholding.

Thank you Redo :). You're making me feel less anxious about it. My aunt is prediabetic but I don't know of any other family members who have diabetes (apart from DH who is not a blood relation of course).

Re the above from redo - could it be genetic? Anyone else in your family diabetic?
