I got some good news at school today, they want me to do TA cover for two days a week for eight weeks while someone is having an operation :T. The deputy head mentioned it to me today but said not to tell anyone until the head has time to speak to me. I feel really pleased as I wasn't expecting to be asked to do any more paid cover :D. I feel a bit more hopeful now that maybe something will turn up for me while I'm doing my level 3. I don't mind if it's cover or part time but I would love to be offered something.

I felt really cheerful after that so I had a good morning in the classroom and enjoyed my job (despite my head cold). I'm not going to Pilates though as I need to rest so that I can get rid of this cold and so I'm on top of things tomorrow.

DS3 is on the waiting list to see a podiatrist over his painful feet, but someone at school was saying the waiting lists are long so we may have to find the money for him to see a private one. Even with the inserts it's still painful for him to walk, so he's worried about what will happen when he goes back to uni :(.

Great news about the temporary work:j. Couldn't have come at a better time when you were so despondent about ever getting a job there. Why just 2 days a week though? What happens on the other 3?

Has your son gone back to Uni yet? Fitting in a long and tiring journey if you have to take him back doesn't sound much fun with your cold. I hope you'll be feeling 100% really soon. Good idea not to go to Pilates tonight;). Take care xxx

Thank you Scrimpess, you're right it has come at a good time :). They have someone who is contracted to do three days a week, but they're giving me the other two days :D.

DS3 is still at home luckily so my cold should be over by the the time he goes back.

That's brilliant news. See, things can change quickly, so I wouldn't give up hope just yet of ending up working at your school. They're obviously happy with what you do as they've asked you to step in. And even if there isn't a vacancy when the time comes, just think how much better your CV is going to look.

I don't know much about the education system now, maybe there is no difference in salaries any more? but I do know the staff were on different rates when I worked there and there was a lot of ill feeling about it at times. You know the sort of thing, she's level 3 and doesn't do anything, I'm level 1 and doing twice as much. :o xx

Thank you TF2 :). Maybe it's different at different schools, or maybe it's changed, or maybe it still happens. I don't know how much the TAs get paid or even how many hours they work.

I hope them asking me to do this cover is a good sign anyway. Maybe it's because I've got my level 2 now :).

Well that's a bit of good news, HHoD. And you're right, it could well be because you've been putting the effort & interest in with getting your Level 2.
