Don't worry too much about the job. It's not every teacher who would want an ex (failed?) teacher in their classroom & would prefer someone who had recently passed a course in the actual job they were wanted to do.
  • I agree with bad memory. A lot of staff definitely wouldn’t want an ex teacher as a TA. My old headteacher boss said some research had proved that newly qualified staff were the most effective at their job. I think at the time he was having a dig at all the staff who had been there for years and stuck in their ways. Hope that helps Hairy. As for your memories of your sister and mum I can’t help there really other than am sure they wouldn’t have wanted you feeling like this. Sometimes when I ‘m down I try and think of all the positive things that have happened or people have said that day. Hope you feel better soon.

  • I still feel a bit down today...…. I still feel convinced that a job won't come up and that even if it did they'd give it to the teacher, but I'm going to stick to my plan.

HHOD, I discovered your diary through reading something you posted on someone else's and I tried to read all of it to catch up on your 'journey'. How I hate that overused word and here I am using it myself:rotfl:. You really have come so far, cleared so may hurdles and bounced back from some horrible things that life has sent your way. You should be so proud of yourself:A

I can understand your feeling low just at the moment as several difficult events have aligned but please don't get despondent about the job situation. They say a week is a long time in politics (isn't it just???) and the same applies to a school situation. Who knows what the next few months will bring. Just keep on doing what you're already doing so well and we'll all be keeping our fingers crossed for you.

Just remember how convinced you were that you wouldn't receive any PPI compensation and in the end you accrued a nice little emergency/savings pot:j. Success with a job offer could easily be yours:). I bet you were really relieved that you had the emergency savings to pay the man who did your joinery work. Ouch to the unexpected costs though:eek:. Imagine how an unexpectedly higher bill than you were expecting would have been a real crisis for you and DH just a few months ago.

HHoD, Quotes not including VAT really annoy me. Had a leaflet popped through my door earlier this week (for a job we actually are looking to get done this autumn). It looked quite good initially.... then I realised it didn't include VAT & 20% is quite a lot to add on, isn't it?
Also... just wanted to say I do understand sad difficult anniversaries. It's a year since we were told Mum's surgery had failed & her then being moved to palliative care. I'm not down about it. It is what it is & certainly things are a lot less stressful then they were this time last year, but it's sad isn't it, when these anniversaries come round? So just adding my sympathies x

Thank you Foxgloves :). Anniversaries do have a way of hitting you like a sledgehammer sometimes.

I hope you're both right about people not wanting an ex-teacher.

  • Thank you everyone for your kind comments :).

I do feel much better today. I slept well last night (although I did wake up with a bit of a sore throat) and the sun was shining today. School was fine and I'm getting to know my new class.

Aunt and uncle are coming for dinner tonight so I've been tidying up the living room and folding up clean washing etc. The house isn't too bad but lots of things need putting away where they belong. We owe them a meal so it's nice to be able to invite them now that the kitchen is sorted.

DS1 is at a sleepover tonight so it will be six of us in the house for dinner, although DS2 and DS3 may not put in an appearance, who knows!
