We had a really good day out today at the NT place. We went to Knightshayes Court. I've never been there before but I definitely want to go again. The house was very interesting and it had lovely gardens and woodland walks too. We had lovely weather too
.
Tomorrow I'll be back to the de-clutteringand I need to plant my flowers in pots and weed the garden too.
I hope everyone else has had a good day.

Right todays de-cluttering update is as follows:
1 - I've organised some suits that have been hanging behind the office door for months. I've married up a pair of trousers with a jacket and hung that along with a second suit in our bedroom. A random suit jacket was found to have some moth holes in the sleeve and has been binned :T.
2 - I removed three cheap stacking chairs from the office that hadn't been used for years. They are stained and one is broken so they are destined for the tip when we get a minute to go :T.
3 - I've put a pine stool that's not being used in the void (it's too good to get rid of) :T.
4 - I've also put an unused kitchen bin in the void (if DS3 doesn't need it in his house next year I want to persuade DH to give it to the charity shop) :T.
5 - DH had a hat he never wears in a plastic box on our bedroom floor (it has sentimental value). I've put this in the void :T.
6 - I've bagged up a suede jacket for the charity shop that I've had for ten years and worn once (I could try and sell it but I know I won't) :T.
7 - Three music CDs of carp music bagged up for the charity shop :T.
8 - Pet carrier and pet nail clippers ready to go to charity shop :T.
Items 3,4 and 5 have been sat on our bedroom floor for weeks so I'm delighted to have got them into the void.
I've made good progress so far but I have more to do. Next I want to organise the items in my Mum's memory box (taking out items I may use) and put it in the void. One of my goals is not to have random stuff sat on our bedroom floor as it really bugs me to have it there and makes it difficult to hoover.
DH and I also need to go to Mr T and get a few bits like milk and bin liners, so we can drop stuff at the charity shop while we're there. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Sounds like a really positive day so far HH!
I have a wooden stool, it's covered in bits of paint and lives in the garage. It was my gran's and my 77yr old dad remembers it from when he was a boy. He said it was known as the big stool. As it's a solid wooden stool I am going to rub it down and paint it and use it as an occasional table on my landing - could you do something similar with your pine stool? I am loathe to get rid of decent furniture that there is nothing wrong with apart from fashion!I

Don't feel guilty at all. I just kept the lego and the wooden train sets. I am trying to work to 'would I pay to keep this in storage for six months while we rent/move it the outer Hebrides'.My mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Please reinstall universe and reboot+++

Thanks BB50. That's a good idea for the stool.

Thanks Redo. That's exactly what I needed to hear.

CLUTTER UPDATE:
We've dropped the pet carrier and related bits at the charity shop. It felt a bit sadbut I don't want to have another pet, so it needed to be done. I don't have time to look after a pet at the moment, or the money to care for one properly, plus three of us have fur allergies. Not only that it's easier to go away if you don't have a pet and there are friends and relatives who live away that I'd like to visit.
I've also organised the stuff in my Mum's memory box and put it into the void until I have a better place to keep it.
DS1 and I did ten minutes de-cluttering in his room and emptied three medium sized boxes. Spaces are starting to appear, so I have hopes that one day I may be able to clean and hoover in there :T.
Then I boxed up some clutter that was on the floor on DH's side of the room to contain it until he finds time to look at it. There is much more floor space in our bedroom now so it will be much easier to hoover and dust in there :T. Although I wish I didn't have to carry our heavy hoover up two flights of stairs to do it.
Finally I hung up a picture in the toilet that's been lying around my bedroom for a couple of years waiting for someone to hang it up.
I feel quite pleased with myself now for all the de-cluttering I've been doing. I feel like it's actually starting to make a difference and the house is looking less cluttered.

Great that the pictures are on the wall now. I know what you mean about selling stuff but valuing getting stuff out of your home more. Exactly how I feel. Your mum's things are shrinking down at your own pace so well done.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
