  • I never have any problem relaxing !!!:rotfl:

Walked half way up our short road today, to knock on a friend's door, say hello, have a brief chat, and cross her off my list of places I can walk to on my own. It really is baby-steps - however it was a lovely warm day.

I know what you mean about stuff you COULD sell, but somehow never get round to it. I think potentially valuable but unwanted belongings just sit and suck the life out of you, making you feel guilty on 2 fronts; that they are essentially junk squatting in your house, and that you're missing out on their value. Much better to bite the bullet and give them away - someone will be much happier as a result of your decision, and you won't be reminded every time you look at them of a previous past decision and your own inability to deal with them.
How wonderful to have space in the void to relocate stuff from elsewhere.

I feel I'm suffering from too much internal angst to relax properly at the moment but hopefully that will pass in time and at least I'm getting things done.

Well done on going for that walk Elizabeth :T. Are you pain free now or still in a bit of pain from the op? I'm so glad you've had it done now :).

I'm useless at selling things and know I'll never find the time to do it. Plus it's a nice way to benefit a charity. I give my clutter to my local hospice shop which is a really lovely charity that does so much to help people.

I've managed to tire myself out already this morning and it's only 10am . I've cleaned the top of the fridge :T which is empty now the pet carrier has gone. It looks a bit bare in that area now so DH suggested we could put shelves in the alcove above the fridge which would be really useful extra storage. Until he gets around to that we thought we could hang a picture there. We could also put shelves in the alcove above our upright freezer if we get a smaller laundry basket and keep it in our cupboard under the stairs. DH and I really impressed ourselves with this brainwave :D.

In addition to that I've tackled some stains on the living room carpet where DS1 and DS2 had a milk catastrophe  and some stains where the furry moron did a wee on the carpet . I sprayed stain remover on and then scrubbed the stains with a scrubbing brush, which is why I feel tired now. I'm hoping the stains will be gone when the carpet dries and hopefully the room will smell better too :T.

This is one of the many cleaning jobs I need to do which I've been putting off until after I de-cluttered.

  • I think I'm going to mainly concentrate on cleaning and gardening today rather than de-cluttering.

    TODAY'S PLANS INCLUDE:

    Weed the front garden
    Put flowers in pots
    Hoover my bedroom
    Dust my bedroom
    Drop 3 chairs at tip
Dust all pictures & get rid of cobwebs
    Go into town with DS1
Spend ten minutes de-cluttering DS1's room

I'm not sure if I'll get all of that done but I can only try. It's lucky I've got another week's holiday next week because there is still a huge amount I'd like to get done in the house.

I can see that my list for today may have been a little ambitious!

I've weeded our tiny front garden which took ages. You pull up the big weeds, but then spots hundreds of little weeds waiting to be big weeds, so the whole job always takes longer than I expect. However it's done now and looks much better :T. While I was out there I pruned our standard box with the shears and swept the front path :T.

I chatted to two neighbours and the postman while I was out the front, it's a good way to be sociable :). It's boiling hot out there  far too hot for gardening, so I've retreated indoors now with a cold drink.

Now I need to have lunch then get ready to go into town with DS1. I think I'll leave putting the flowers in pots until early evening when hopefully it will be a bit cooler. It's too hot for gardening today!

Have a good Friday everyone :).

  • I enjoyed going to town with DS1, it's always good to spend time with him :). I bought a drink for us both in Costalot, succumbed to three pairs of socks :o but resisted a froyo/icecream :A so it could have been worse. I bought some kitchen scissors as our curent ones are so blunt they hardly cut anything at all. I resisted some £20 scissors and bought a pair for £2.30 which seem to cut things perfectly adequately :money:.

When I got home I planted flowers in four pots and the garden looks much nicer with something flowering in it. I have two more flowers to be planted but need to get some more compost first.

My back is protesting now, so I may have overdone it slightly today. However I got a lot done and hopefully I'll feel rested and full of beans again tomorrow. I hope everyone has had a successful and productive Friday :).

    .

Regrettably not pain-free, still have facet joint pain and wound pain radiating all down my right leg, BUT, and it's a really big BUT, it's better than it was before the op.

I still think you did a lot for a really hot day, today, HH! After a walk up & down the back of the house I also retreated indoors for a cold drink.

I needed some new kitchen scissors last Xmas, and the Poundland ones DD1 gave me are actually really efficient.
