UKCPS "court recovery action" threat

Hi Guys,
So I was issued a ticket on 12th June from UKCPS.
After advice I had ignored their letters but have now received a letter which say if I don’t respond within 14 days they will “commence legal action”.
The letter also starts off with "Letter before court claim"
Now is this still a threat or should I bite the bullet and pay the fine?
Thank you all

It's not a 'fine'.
We wouldn't recommend paying it unless a judge tells you that you must. If the LBCCC letter has come from UKCPS then treat as such and reply using a suitable response from the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #2, where there are links to examples.
If it's from a debt collector like DRP, Zenith, ZZPS or their ilk, then it can be ignored. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

UKCPS will use the useless incompetent Gladstones solicitors
to issue a court claim
Is the letter from UKCPS or Gladstones ???
The point is, do you want to pay a scammer ?
We say NO because you can beat them
Firstly read this carefully

There are big changes in The Pre-Action Protocol for Debt Claims
commencing 1st Oct 2017.
This means that bringing a claim, they have to jump through
hoops that they don't have to now
So, is this a letter from UKCPS or Gladstones ???0 -
Hi guys,
Thanks for the response.
You're right it's not a fine and the letter is from UPCPS
thanks,0 -

thanks,
Then write back either by email or letter. If a letter, not recorded,
just get proof of posting from the post office
You deny any debt to UKCPS and require proof of their claim
You are the keeper and not the driver
Is that your real name ???0 -
NO ..... please delete all of that
You just need to deny any debt and require proof of their claim
Are you understanding the point made about the new
protocol on the 1st Oct ?
Once they have provided proof then come back here0 -
Have you read through that copy and paste? Did a passenger in the car have a heart condition? What else is wrong - plenty I've spotted!
While that style of response will be the type to use, you must make sure that whatever you copy and paste relates to your case and you have researched any references in it (like those to PoFA, the CPR etc) and you have some understanding of what you've written.
Don't forget, if this does progress to court, your response to the LBCCC will be read by a judge before the hearing. You don't want him/her making a pre-hearing presumption that you are just copying and pasting any old internet template without understanding what it is you are purporting to have written yourself - it might well colour the judge's impression regarding other eventual essentials like your defence and witness statement. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. Especially as you havent even bothered to change it to the correct PPC.0

gah! edit your post!
NEVER identify the driver.
No, youre doing as told - denying the debt, and require copies of all documetns they will rely upon in the event of a claim
You want this spun out past 1st October as this is when NEW RULES come into force that GREATLY assist you.0 -
Thanks, is there a letter template anywhere?0

The NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #2 (scroll right down the post to find) is a section which provides example LBC responses. Do some digging around there.
