That's a great ideal. You could sprinkle a bit of fairy dust in the jar too and attach a label "Missing Fairy, reward for safe return" or something like that

Think you've just made my slightly odd idea into a great idea :D

Hmmmm.... ...just going over the bits I have for me muvva &--does this sound silly to yooze guys?
She still lives independantly & is very good at cooking for herself every day...She's beginning to ask me how I use things like red lentils in "proper food" cuz she "won't eat that foreign muck" like bolognaise :p I've been keeping all my jam jars etc & wondered about making up a little selection of dried bits so she doesn't go & buy a 'big' bag to get left to fester in the cupboard.
I know she's pretty keen to try a pease pudding so I'll have a look for a recipe for that & I saw one somewhere for faggots, so perhaps I could fathom some way of keeping little bits of herns & spices too--the standard size pots are far too much, altho I s'pose I'd get it back eventually :oOoooh ..what could I put them in first to help keep them fresh, before putting them into one of those boxes we use for retro sweetie gifts????

C'mon folks! Thinking caps on _party_ <<that's me in my cap & all the daft ideas I do come up with!

    That's a great idea BMF :D

I can't think of how you could store small amounts of herbs and spices? I'll keep my cap on and hopefully something will come to me ;)

  • BMF - re storing small amount of herbs, Lakeland do mini plastic storage containers pack of about 10 on a storage tray that would be ideal. Problem is they dont come cheap

Is there a way of creating a 'fairy in a jar' without having to buy a fairy ? My friend loves them but I've about spent my christmas budget:confused:
Picking up on the idea of a fairy wand in a jar with glitter sprinkled in (earlier post) the theme for the jar could also be a 'magic wish jar' . Baby food jars would be ideal for this

polly - thanks. Be a lot easier than trying to make a fairy...........I could just put some glitter in, make a wand and write something to the effect that the fairy left my friend this little 'wish jar'

I've got some little paste spread pots that would do the job

  • Ooh, have such an urge now to write a fairy poem :)

What if it were an invisible fairy then you wouldnt have to make it... he he
I like the idea of making a mini wand and using the glitter :)

    How about this

    Once there lived a Fairy
    Lily was her name
She watched your every move with care
    Through your window pane.
    Sadly Lily had to go
    To the Fairyland on high
But on a starry night you'll see her
On a moonbeam in the sky
She left her wand and magic dust
In this jar, specially for you
Take care of it and then, who knows
    Your wishes could come true.
