Mary, I don't think they are female only pressies. Thinking of doing one for my dad next year. I know my OH wouldn't go with it and answer the questions but I'm pretty certain my dad would. Bunbun did a jar each for her boys - few pages back (green lidded jars) so she can't think it's a girl only thing either. I say ignore the OH Mary!

rainmac - thanks. Glad it's not just me or my OH having the grumps - he never has been one for talking about anything 'personal' let alone writing about it so maybe it was me over re-acting to his blunt criticism...........he's been full of apologies ever since...................lol

You've got me thinking too :p but I conclude the following....I think :o

    1. The 'prompts' will make the recipient actually think about the question asked, even if they don't think they will--it will be like a little seed that sits in the brain to germinate at those times when the brain is free to wander [mine is while doing the washing up or at the dentist:p ]
    2. The recipient is free to write their response in the journal or anywhere else they choose; just ponder the answer to themselves; discuss it with you &/or other half.
    3. This is--after all-- a gift & they are entitled to use it as they see fit, as they would any other gift.
    4. As with anything we buy or make for others, we can only do what we feel comfortable with & hope the gift is received with the same good grace in which it is given.
    5. It's an absolute NIGHTMARE to find gifts for any man, so don't worry about it :rotfl: It's the thought that counts :T

    BMF - thats what I told OH...................men !!!
I'll go ahead anyway. I've been careful with some of the questions -don't want to drag anything up he may not want to dwell on -tried to keep them interesting and thought provoking -thats the general idea.

I don't think journal jars are only a girl thing but think it does depend on the man/boy. I have made them for my two boys (nearly 8 and 10). the eldest in particular in very much a writer and loves writing stories so I think he will enjoy doing a journal. the youngest is less keen on writing than his brother but he is good at it so I hope he will enjoy doing it too and I couldn't make it for one and not the other:rotfl: mary if you think it is appropriate i would say go for it - what do men know!!
