rainmac - just need to find suitable can..................lol Did think about one of those gravy granule tubs but get the feeling the brown stuff will rub off so any ideas ? Needs to be that sort of thing really, with the plastic lid...........mind is drawing a blank

Just had a thought.............could make a whole basket of 'gifts in jars' and make it look a bit like a food hamper....................lolNow there's a thought !

Think that's a great idea, you just like making more work for yourself don't you!

I think a gravy granule tub would be fine so long as it's wiped clean.

rainmac - wouldn;t make extra work really..........just fill up a load of jars of allsorts (cans of sunshine, jars of dried beans with 'safety' tube in the middle, jars or quotes or facts, joke pills in empty pill bottle, oh I'm sure theres no end to it..........and by the time they're popped in a basket (maybe with some check material round the edge and first appearance would be foot hamper.........oh and adding flannel cup cakes as well....................lol

(maybe you''re right............brain running away with itself ?)

Runs to rescue gravy granule jar before it gets to recycle bin ...........!!!

I hadn't got a clue what 'Borax' was, so searched on internet and this is what came up. Hopefully we can find it on the supermarket shelves.

in my school we use ordinary soap flakes, better for the skin as softer, unfortunately dont last indefinitely tho.
just mix a box of soap flakes with wayer and leave to set. the kids love to play with it and it doesnt harm anything if it gets spilled.

I made these journal jars yesterday. The jars are from Ikea (99p each), ribbons I had already...

The one on the left is for my nan for Xmas and the one on the right for my friend's birthday pressie. I've bought pretty hardback A4 notebooks to go with the jars (£3 each) and a pen (£1) . I'm also going to pop a glue stick into each jar (got these in craft stash) so the questions can be stuck into the book.

I used some of the questions on this site to start me off and added some of my own. I've put about 50 questions in each jar and the label on the front reads "Select a slip each week from the jar. Stick it onto the top of a new page of the journal and fill in your answer. Enjoy the memories!". So the jar should last a year if one question is answered every week.

I've really enjoyed making these and want to give BIG thanks to Mary for helping me make up my mind to do one for my nan :)

I have screwed up! I went to ikea on saturday and have bought the small jar for the facts and I think rainmac said they wouldn't fit?? Wonder if I can do something different with this jar? .. Maybe 52 facts? 1 for each week lol oh dear its going to be such a shame that I have to go back to ikea (can you detect the sarcasm?)

I used the same jar but the 2.2 litre size for the 365 facts and the smallest jar in the range (0.5 litre I think) for the journal jars. You could do 52 facts - would easily fit in the 0.5l size jar ;)

Or, you could go back to Ikea... :rotfl:
