Caught speeding on same journey 10 minutes apart
Hi
I hope someone can help. I have received 2 speeding tickets , the first was 60mph in a 40. The second was 8 minutes later just where i entered the outskirts of Leicester and was caught doing 37mph in a 30mph zone. Do you think the police would consider this as one offence?
I have just sent off the requests for driver information. Have no points currently but did a speed awareness course about 2 months ago.
Many thanks
Tim

No, it will be two separate offences so six points are on the cards.0

You've been caught twice by different machines/people on different roads with different speed limits = two offences.
What did you miss in the speed awareness course?DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Nope.......£200 and 6 points and be careful next time0

It's a good defence - "I was speeding the whole way, isn't that just one offence?"
:beer:Not even wrong0 -
Under certain circumstances it can, and has, been argued that two allegations of exceeding the limit can be a continuous offence.
The problem for the OP is that they occured in two different speed limits, if they had both been on the same road with the same limit it would be more likely to be treated as one offence.
The OP could contact the relevant SCP or Police force and ask the question but I agree the chances of being successful are low.0 -
Why? What additional offences would be made out?
Twice on the same stretch you could claim as a single incident.0 -
Presumably some form of reckless driving, since you'd be maintaining that at no time between the 2 offenses you were at or below the speed limit. That includes any junctions, bends, roundabouts etc.
Twice on the same stretch you could claim as a single incident.
Reckless driving went 20 odd years ago.0
