Royal mail lost my mobile phone!!!

Options
Help please! I sent a mobile phone I had bought (£350) to my brother in Spain via Internation tracked and signed. I asked the counter staff if I could be insured and they sold me insurance which covers the package up to £250. What they failed to tell me however, is that mobile phones are NOT COVERED by their insurance, yet they did ask me what I was sending!

The parcel was wrongly sent to ARGENTINA, and has never been redirected, t is now officially lost.

I'm very annoyed now that I am not covered, therefore I want to send them a receipt for an item other than the mobile phone - I absolutely want to recover my £250 back, at least.

Can anyone please let me know what IS covered, so that I can delve into my drawer of receipts and issue them with one which will help me to recover as much of my loss as possible?

Many thanks for any help.

Dan.

Be careful, what you are intending to do and asking advice for is fraud, despite the problems you have incurred.
  • To be honest, I would be surprised if anyone was willing to give advice to help you commit fraud.
What do think could happen if you claim for something else and your original package eventually turns up somewhere and RM discover what you have done?
  • I see, apologies, I didn't think about that. How can I delete my thread?

Report your original post and it will eventually be removed.
  • They mis-sold me insurance for a mobile phone only for me to find out that it's not covered.

I cannot proce that this happened, therefore does that mean I should lose out?

So to clarify, before asking about the level of insurance were the counter staff fully aware that the item was a mobile phone?

If so, you do potentially have a case against them but I don't know how you go about proving it as it would be down to your word against theirs. I would advise making a formal complaint.

That's correct. And yes, proving this would be impossible. You can see the position I am in, I would never have paid for insurance if I knew it wasn't covered. I clearly stated it was a phone and she went and asked someone to see if it was allowed to be sent, and then sold me insurance for it.

I don't see why I should lose the cost of the phone.

I understand my post looks wrong but naturally I'm just so angry with them.

    Tried going to

    http://www.track-trace.com/post

Then "Track With Options" as Inbound Argentia post - might give you more tracking than what Royal Mail have.
