Tjeonlywayisup, Please explain?
If you send an item it covered UP TO the value of the service you used ONLY IF you use the correct service for that item.
You didn't use the correct service. Aside of who you lay that blame with, the fact the correct service wasn't used is not Royal Mail's doing. Therefore you are not covered by them.
You may want to take matters further with the Post Office but that is up to you.0 -
Well it was your statement I am questioning.... With respect, It makes no sense at all.
Can you see how I've quoted your post? Please do so in future as it is impossible to know who you're replying to in your posts in this thread.
You need thebutton. (May look different if you're using the White theme ... the quote button is under/near every post in a thread).

Could you describe how it does work?
The higher the value of an item & the smaller that item is, the higher risk of the item being lost/stolen.
So you buy insurance cover for items up to £250, that insurance premium has been calculated based on the risk of an item costing not more than £250. You then send an item worth more than that, the risk is higher so you're more likely to make a claim.
Although be aware if you were able to prove negligence/them failing to carry out the contract with reasonable care & skill, they wouldn't be able to limit their liability and you wouldn't need insurance to claim. So if they were taking care and your parcel inadvertently got lost, that would be an insurance claim. However if you (for example) got a service that required them to get a signature & check the ID of the person receiving it (as is common with mobile phones being sent from retailers) and they failed to do that and you suffered a loss as a result (perhaps they handed it to the wrong person), then they'd be fully liable for that. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Nothing. It is worth more than the service used.
Lets not beat around the bush. you arent covered.
Its a dead horse that has been fully flogged.
The value of the package is irrelevant when purchasing insurance the royal mail website clearly states:This compensation is subject to the maximum payable being the lower of the market value of the item and the maximum level of compensation purchased
So items worth more than the level of insurance purchased are covered up to the full payout.
The OP's issue is that the item sent wasn't covered and nothing to do with its value.0
