Overtaking a police vehicle

Post #6 is a little ambiguous hence why I didn't mention it

The flash after overtaking on a motorway is something that truck drivers do to let you know it's ok to pull back in front, I would imagine that's what the Police van was doing.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I (and everyone else for that matter) read it as being the OP was flashed much later after the overtake. No reason why couldn't all be wrong in that assumption though.Strider590 wrote: »The flash after overtaking on a motorway is something that truck drivers do to let you know it's ok to pull back in front, I would imagine that's what the Police van was doing.0 -
Just realised I was "middle lane hogging". I was not aware that it was illegal to do so as many other drivers in the UK (according to confused.com survey).
So, I could technically get 3 points for careless/illegal driving? *sob*0 -
You won't be getting anything, nothing will happen.0

You wont, but how you didn't realise is beyond me.Just realised I was "middle lane hogging". I was not aware that it was illegal to do so as many other drivers in the UK (according to confused.com survey).

Yes I think the left lane was empty. Guys, I am really scared now
The probable worst case scenario is that you will receive a Notice of Intended Prosecution within 14 days for Careless Driving (for hogging the middle lane) which carries a £100 fine and 3 points on your licence.
It's bad enough your driving is so poor that you feel the need to ignore the Highway Code and stay in the middle lane but to do so after overtaking a Police vehicle beggars belief; frankly it's hard to believe anyone could be so stupid.
Sadly you will probably never hear any more about the issue but if it was down to me I'd introduce a 'two strikes and you're out' law; get caught hogging the middle lane once and get a £100 fine, get caught twice and you get an automatic 14 day ban.Every generation blames the one before...

Seriously?!? You've never read the highway code? And somehow missed the blanket coverage about middle lane hogging in the media a few years ago?
Even if you did not realise it was illegal surely you must have realised how inconsiderate it was to other drivers to block the middle lane unnecessarily?Every generation blames the one before...
