That sounds like prudent advice, the letter is already winging its way to Mint rejecting their offer and asking settlement for full amount in 14 days otherwise FOS / Court Action awaits them
Fingers crossed I get a result0 -

Yes, and mention that the interest is piling up daily while they delay !
Though I would personally also go for the full interest as I stated in my post on page 121, no. 2432.
The full interest is much, much higher than just the 8%.0 -
Hello, I have 2 simple questions:
1. I have a credit card AND a current account with HSBC. I would like to reclaim charges from both.
Do I have to write separate letters, and send separate cheques for £10 - or can I combine them into a single claim letter such as this:
"...I am writing to request that you forward me a copy of all data held by your organisation about me for both current and closed accounts, AND CREDIT CARDS..."?
2. Is it really necessary to request 'all data'? Or could I simply request 'All charges incurred'?
Could someone kindly advise me on this, and on the correct wording to use?
Many Thanks,
Kez0 -

1. You can make one request ... and so only have to pay £10
2. You can request any data you require. Whilst the bank charges template letter does indeed ask for all data, the credit card one only asks for "a fully comprehensive list of all the default charges for late payments or going over my credit limit"
Now it could be argued that the more specific you are, the more likely you are to receive that information, but if you don't ask for everything, there may be a risk you miss out something important (which would cost you another tenner if you have to go back and ask). However, if you ask for everything, you may receive reams & reams of data which you will need to sift through yourself.
It's all a question of balance, but be aware that the bank may not do much sifting of data themselves (£10 doesn't cover much labour) and so may just send you everything anyway."Now to trolling as a concept. .... It depends on whether you really want to push for it. I asked for the interest at the contractual rate (what they charged me on it!) and 2 of them have come back and offered me the statutory rate of 8% instead. I'm quite pig-headed so sent them back and asked for the contractual and one has come back within a week and offered me £200 towards the contractual as a 'goodwill gesture' which I have accepted as it should clear my balance off. If I had really wanted the full amount of contractual interest then yes I probably would have had to take them to court.
It also depends on what you still owe them as if they can just take the refunded charges off your balance they are much likelier to just pay up rather then bother with court as they aren't having to pay anything back, it is just going back into their company.
Can you advise which bank paid out the 'contribution' towards the contractual rate of interest please?
Kind Regards

I recently got stung by my credit card company (Barclay Card Initial). My drect debit bounced 3 months ago - because of my bank account transfer error and so i had to sort it out my ringing them up and payign my credit card off using my debit card. Anyway - that sorted I carried on with life.....2 months later my credit card bill comes through and low and behold I am 900 quid in the red and getting charged £80 for the pleasure......It turns out that becuase my direct debit had not worked 2 months previous - the credit card company had cancelled my direct debit. Did they tell me - NO (but they reckon they have) and at no tiem 2 months ago when i was sorting out the direct debit bounce - did they tell me any future direct debits would be cancelled.
So if i had gone out of the country for any length of time - I would have been charged charged charged.....I hate Barclay Card and I hate credit card companies.....modern day theives.....0 -

Every month, Barclaycard should be sending you a statement.
That statement should detail all transactions including any payments towards the previous month's balance.
It should also state the current balance, the minimum payment due, and when you should pay that by. It would indicate if any amount was to be collected by DD on that statement.
If you don't read/check your statements, you only have yourself to blame.
If you don't keep the credit card company advised of your up to date mailing address (even one abroad), you only have yourself to blame.
If you don't receive those monthly statements, and you don't contact the company concerned to ask why, you only have yourself to blame.
If those statements are being sent, but not being delivered I would suggest you report the frequent loss/theft/non-delivery of your mail to the local Royal Mail office. You should also consider reporting the matter to the police."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I sent the first letter to capital one asking for a refund of charges plus interest. I received a letter to say they would investigate and would take 4 weeks!! On the third week i received a letter offering the full amount i asked for and a little bit more, thank you for all your help everyone, just glad this time i was lucky and didn't have to do much and can finally feel the the stress being relieved0

Hi
When claiming charges do u need a full breakdown of what youve been charged or can you just send a letter asking for a refund of them and hope the card company will do the calculations!
I have 3 different cards to claim off and dont have full statements of all of them
Thanks0 -
For many years I was in the credit tart trap, keeping afloat by transferring debt; but there came a time when I ran out of options and my last swap, to Virgin, was crushing. I somehow managed to balls up the direct debit and the first payment was made late. I’m pretty sure they had told me the DD was still standing from a previous stint with Virgin, but I can’t be sure. They agreed to wave the fee, but took the opportunity to cancel my interest free period. Suddenly there was nowhere else to jump and it cost a lot when I finally paid them off 18 months later.
I can’t prove it was their fault (if indeed it was) – but can anything be done about lost interest-free periods? It was a sort of punishment… If there was any chance, I’d love to stick it to the swine!
Thanks, experts! Please enjoy this rotating Martin :money:0
